Inside the ceremony, the Oscar–winning star accepted the Special Tribute Award.
She's currently in Toronto promoting two movies that premiered at Cannes: the Spanish epic La Bola Negra, directed by Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi, and Florian Zeller's Bunker.
Highlighting Bunker, Cruz noted its focus on 'the shocking inequalities, the individualism, the fear of others, the temptation to retreat into ourselves, and the growing anxiety for the future of our planet.'
