Paddington Bear is easily among the most recognizable faces on the planet. The bear, based on the beloved children's literature character created by Michael Bond, was brought to life by director Paul King in a live-action/CGI format and instantly became a fan favorite worldwide. It all started with 2014’s Paddington, which became a cultural phenomenon by blending heartfelt British whimsy with modern digital storytelling.

Paddington serves as an origin story and comic misadventure of a Peruvian talking bear, voiced by Ben Whishaw. We follow Paddington making his way from his destroyed rainforest habitat to England in search of a new home. When he arrives lost and alone at Paddington Station, the Brown family discovers him. While the family's patriarch, Mr. Brown, is reluctant to take him in, Mrs. Brown happily takes him in as her own. Paddington tries to adjust to urban British life, causing a series of unintentional, chaotic mishaps. Things take a turn when a ruthless museum taxidermist named Millicent Clyde (Nicole Kidman) sets out to capture and stuff him for her collection.

With its themes of immigration and displacement, the kindness of Mrs. Brown taking him in, which transforms Paddington’s life, and of embracing unconditional love, the feature felt like a warm hug for fans. Made on a modest budget of $55 million, it went on to earn $326.1 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing independent family movie of its time. King’s wholesome direction was lauded, along with the seamless integration of CGI and Whishaw's gentle, earnest voice performance as Paddington. The success of the film spawned a whole franchise that’s become as beloved as the original film, making it a holiday season favorite. For fans who’d love to revisit the original, Lionsgate will soon release a new Paddington 4k Ultra HD Steelbook, as per a new report.

What’s in the 'Paddington' 4K Ultra HD Steelbook?

The new release marks the debut of the 4K Steelbook in the U.S. It will feature legacy special features from earlier releases, like Meet the Characters, When a Bear Comes to Stay, and From Page to Screen. It’ll also feature the "Shine" music video, The Making of Shine with Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams, and the theatrical trailer, along with a new Lionsgate limited special feature, Please Look After This Bear. You can pre-order the movie now; the Paddington 4K Ultra Steelbook will be available starting November 11.
