Original Heartbreak High star Kym Wilson makes rare public appearance at the 2026 Logie Awards

Heartbreak High star Kym Wilson made a rare public appearance at the 2026 TV WEEK Logie Awards on Sunday.

The Australian actress, 53, turned heads as she arrived at The Star in Sydney for television's night of nights.

Kym looked glamorous in a floor-length black gown featuring a plunging neckline, sheer panels and intricate floral detailing.

The striking dress offered a glimpse of skin through its semi-sheer bodice and skirt, while its fitted silhouette showed off the actress' figure.

She accessorised her red-carpet ensemble with a delicate diamond necklace, matching drop earrings, a bracelet and several rings.

Kym wore her blonde hair slicked back into an elegant low bun and completed her look with glowing makeup, a bold red lip and matching scarlet nails.

The appearance marked a return to familiar territory for the actress, who won the Logie for Most Popular New Talent in 1992 following her breakout performance as Rosemary Fitzgerald in the acclaimed ABC miniseries Brides of Christ.

She went on to become a familiar face on Australian television as Darcy Hudson in A Country Practice, remaining with the beloved drama until its original run came to an end in 1993.

Kym later joined the original Heartbreak High, playing English and history teacher Sam Robinson.

Her rebellious character rode a motorcycle and connected with the students through her grungy style, but became embroiled in one of the show's most controversial storylines after developing a relationship with student Peter Rivers, played by Scott Major.

Kym also co-hosted the popular music program Video Smash Hits and originated the role of Tess McLeod in the 1996 television movie that later inspired the long-running series McLeod's Daughters.

Her other Australian screen credits include Flirting, The Man from Snowy River, Water Rats and All Saints.

At the height of her Australian fame, Kym relocated to the United States after receiving a Winston Churchill Fellowship.

She studied with Shakespeare & Company in Massachusetts and the Moscow Art Theatre at Harvard before settling in Los Angeles.

The actress later took time away from the spotlight and helped launch Australian fashion label Leona Edmiston in the United States, Europe and Asia.

She subsequently returned to acting, appearing in theatre productions and a number of independent film projects in America.

Kym's appearance at the Logies comes amid renewed interest in the original Heartbreak High following the international success of Netflix's reboot.

The first incarnation of the gritty teen drama premiered in 1994 and followed the students and teachers of the fictional Hartley High in Sydney.

The series launched and boosted the careers of numerous Australian actors, including Callan Mulvey, Ada Nicodemou and Simon Baker.

The 66th TV WEEK Logie Awards were held at The Star Sydney on August 16, celebrating the biggest personalities and programs on Australian television.
