Although the anime is still on hiatus, One Piece's Final Saga is in full swing in the manga, with the Elbaph Arc finally approaching its big climax now that the arc's main flashback is done and dusted. That said, even just possessing Gunko's body, Imu is quite the imposing opponent.
It's still unclear whether Luffy will be able to flip the pieces in Imu's little Domi Reversi game in his favor. Luckily, now absolved of his father's murder, One Piece has given Luffy a new powerful ally in Loki, and he might just be the series' strongest devil fruit user to date.
One Piece Reveals Loki's Devil Fruit Transformation
At long last, One Piece's Elbaph Arc is diving right into the action against Imu and the Holy Knights, bringing Luffy and Loki to the scene. Chapter #1174 sees Luffy and Loki, who's transformed into a massive dragon, swoop in to save the Giant children and their family just as they were about to fall to their deaths, accompanied, of course, by the drums of liberation, snow, and lightning.
The chapter finally reveals Loki's devil fruit transformation, which was previously obscured during the flashback battle between Loki and Harald. Most surprising of all, however, is the sheer size of Loki's dragon form, which makes even the massive sleeptids and Gear Five Luffy, who's in Giant mode, seem tiny in comparison.
Considering Giant Luffy was able to use a dragon as large as Kaido like a jumprope, Loki's dragon form is much, much bigger than even Kaido. This means Loki's possibly larger than even Onigashima, making him a far bigger source of destruction than even Gear Five as an island-sized dragon.
Loki's Devil Fruit Reveal Was Foreshadowed An Entire Year Ago
While the chapter does not reveal the name of Loki's devil fruit, it most certainly seems to be a mythical zoan-type devil fruit, most likely modeled after Nidhogg, the dragon said to lurk at the bottom of the World Tree Yggdrasil in Norse mythology.
The parallels are clear as day, with Loki having been bound to the bottom of Jewel Tree Adam, and even Ragnir taking the form of a squirrel much like Ratatoskr, the squirrel said to carry messages up and down Yggdrasil.
That said, the most interesting detail of all is that Loki's dragon form seems to closely resemble the dragon pictured at the top of the massive tree in the Harley mural, which was first revealed in Chapter #1138, released an entire year ago.
The dragon resembling Loki in the mural also appears to be attacking the serpent assumed to represent the Red Line, which may be why Rocks so desired this legendary devil fruit to become the king of the world. Perhaps Loki may even be involved in the destruction of the Red Line in the future, but for now, the Straw Hats and the Giants have certainly gained the upper hand against Imu.
