Speaking exclusively to ScreenRant, co-showrunner Noga Landau confirmed that Ocam Sadal (Romeo Carere) will play a bigger role in season 2, and that the War College's rivalry with Starfleet Academy will continue.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 1 featured a tribute to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine that was widely acclaimed by fans and critics. Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 2 could potentially honor another legacy series and its actors, such as Star Trek: Voyager or Star Trek: Enterprise.

Nus Braka threatened the entire Federation in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 1, but it's unknown whether Captain Ake and her cadets will face another enemy with the fate of the galaxy at stake in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 2.
