If you’re a Sharp Objects fan, there’s another HBO Max show trending right now. This time, however, it’s on Netflix, and its appeal carries the same poison: small-town politeness as camouflage, a case that escalates through social pressure as much as evidence, and a lead performance that keeps you guessing whether you’re watching guilt, shock, or pure self-preservation.

It’s also the kind of miniseries that binge-reads cleanly because it’s only seven episodes, and each hour keeps tightening the moral vise — affair fallout, church-and-community optics, and a crime that turns nice families into liability machines. As per FlixPatrol, this Elizabeth Olsen miniseries has been living in the Top 10 across a wide spread of countries on Netflix, with standout strength in places where it’s basically holding a premium slot: Croatia is locked at #1 from March 20 through March 26, while Belgium holds at #2, Greece sits at #2, and Argentina/Uruguay are steady around #3. Elsewhere, it’s hovering in that sticky mid-band — Mexico at #4, Brazil/Norway/Turkey at #5, and France/Denmark/Chile bouncing around #6, which is what you see when a limited series has strong completion rates but is competing with fresher weekly drops.

On HBO Max, however, the title in question, Love & Death, is only currently trending in Italy. It carries a 60% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 7.5/10 IMDb rating, which lines up with its divisive reception back when it was first released in 2023. The show also has a sharp cast ensemble. In addition to Olsen, Love & Death also stars Jesse Plemons, Patrick Fugit, Lily Rabe, Keir Gilchrist, Elizabeth Marvel, Tom Pelphrey, and Krysten Ritter, among others.

Love & Death is trending because it became available on Netflix later than its original HBO Max run, so it’s effectively new to Netflix’s much larger global audience. Netflix’s own listing shows it arrived on the service at the end of 2025, which sets up a second-life discovery wave months later as it gets recommended to true-crime/limited-series viewers. Interestingly, the miniseries wasn’t a flop at all on Max during its initial release either. In fact, the series became the most-watched original limited series globally in 2023, so Netflix is licensing a proven title rather than rescuing a failed one.

Love & Death is available to watch on both Netflix and HBO Max. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
