Nioh 3 has been released, but you can already enjoy a free download, even if you don’t own the game just yet. The newest installment in the action RPG series created by Team Ninja and published by Koei Tecmo is a sequel to the original Nioh, as Nioh 2 is a prequel. The new game is one of the most notable open-world games of 2026, aside from the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6.
Although the game has just been released, you can check out the game for free, even for a limited time. On the game’s official product page on Steam, you can download a free demo of Nioh 3, which allows you to play a small portion of the game and better understand what to expect from it in terms of story and gameplay mechanics before you decide whether or not you purchase the full game.
Nioh 3 Is Free To Check Out Now
You Can Play The Demo & Transfer Your Progress To The Final Game
It is worth noting that the demo isn’t limited to Steam, as you can also play the free Nioh 3 demo on PlayStation 5, for example. Although the demo is obviously limited in comparison to the full game, this is still a very generous demo, as a large portion of the title is available. You can expect a few hours of gameplay rather than a small period of gameplay.
In fact, you can even transfer your saved progress through the demo to the final version of the game, should you decide to acquire it. Playing the demo before, even if you did play the first two entries in the series, is a good idea, as you can get a better understanding of what this new game has to offer and what you can expect from its open-world map.
Nioh 3 Is Getting Rave Reviews
We Praise The Game In Our Review
Nioh 3 is a game that you should definitely keep on your radar. The title has been widely praised by critics. On Metacritic, the game boasts an impressive 86 Metascore at the time of writing, showing just how much critics enjoyed the experience. In Screen Rant’s review of Nioh 3, we gave the game an 8/10 score.
In it, we praise the game’s action-based combat, comparing its quality to previous installments in the series. We also highlight how the dual-stance mechanic expands the gameplay variety, as well as the set pieces you can gather. We do criticize farming in the game and how the open world can sometimes feel a bit bland.
Nevertheless, we still praise the game immensely. If you want to better comprehend why we enjoyed the game so much, from a practical standpoint, I highly recommend checking out the free Nioh 3 demo.
