EXCLUSIVE: Nia Vardalos, Dylan Walsh, Richard T. Jones, Moira Kelly, Christopher Convery, Joshua Malina and Max Adler are set to join Ashley Judd in the sports drama 21 Down.
The drama is billed as a deeply moving story about family, perseverance and the fight for inclusion inspired by the true story of Caden Cox, who made history by becoming the first person with Down syndrome to play and score in a college football game.
Judd plays Caden’s mother Mari in the pic, which centers on the unwavering determination of his parents to help their son, against all odds, achieve his dream.
Sean McNamara will direct from a screenplay written by Jay Paul Deratany and Oscar-winning writer Ron Bass. The film is currently shooting in Atlanta.
Andrew Sugerman, whose producing credits include Shopgirl, Premonition and Conviction, produces through his company Pantheon Entertainment. Deratany also serves as a producer through his shingle Reel Red Films. Judd, Melissa Bickerton and Thom Lipari are executive producers.
