Grand Theft Auto 6 is bringing us back to Vice City, but with over two decades of technological advancements in tow. Even though we only have a few major trailers to go off of, the community has been breaking down the details of the returning locale, even going so far as to piece together a map.

Over on Reddit, the community has discovered a startling new detail for the GTA 6 map. If this pans out a fraction as well as it seems, Rockstar could have crafted the most detailed open world to date.

GTA 6's Map Density Is Unreal

The Amount Of Trees Is Impressive

Based on a single screenshot of the game, showcasing a beach and a bridge location in GTA 6, a fan has discovered that it contains roughly 14,287 trees.

Here's how they came to the conclusion"So I actually went ahead and counted the trees to get a real metric on the map density...When I get to the far left islands and the distant shore near the Vice City skyline, the LODs get too aggressive, and the rendering just turns into a solid green mush. Obviously, you can't click on individual trees there. So, for that part, I took a dense area in the mid-ground that I had already counted, measured its pixel dimensions, and then used the color range selection tool to highlight all the matching green pixels on the distant islands. I just calculated the total surface area of that green color and multiplied it by the density of the mid-ground chunk. The total count ended up being 14,287. Give or take, maybe a couple of hundreds for the background math."

Fans are astounded not just by the poster's effort but by the game's engine. One notes: "This shot alone have third part of total amount of trees in Skyrim which is full of trees actually. This is insane how far we are in terms of technology."

While fans meticulously take apart everything shown off for GTA 6 so far, we're all waiting for the fabled third trailer to hit. Assuming there isn't yet another delay, Rockstar should be starting the marketing campaign for the game very soon. At that point, we'll no doubt get a better glimpse of Vice City, and projects like the GTA 6 fan mapping initiative will continue.

Once GTA 6 is actually out, all its secrets will come to light very quickly, as the internet works together to suss them out. There's only going to be a light window where things are spoiler-free, so enjoy it while you can.
