Chris is a Senior News Writer for Collider. He can be found in an IMAX screen, with his eyes watering and his ears bleeding for his own pleasure. He joined the news team in 2022 and accidentally fell upwards into a senior position despite his best efforts.
For reasons unknown, he enjoys analyzing box office receipts, giant sharks, and has become known as the go-to man for all things Bosch, Mission: Impossible and Christopher Nolan in Collider's news division. Recently, he found himself yeehawing along to the Dutton saga on the Yellowstone Ranch.
He is proficient in sarcasm, wit, Photoshop and working unfeasibly long hours. Amongst his passions sit the likes of the history of the Walt Disney Company, the construction of theme parks, steam trains and binge-watching Gilmore Girls with a coffee that is just hot enough to scald him.
His obsession with the Apple TV+ series Silo is the subject of mockery within the Senior News channel, where his feelings about Taylor Sheridan's work are enough to make his fellow writers roll their eyes.
The world of Bosch is getting a lot bigger, and the new prequel is starting to feel much more real now that its cast is filling out. Bosch: Start of Watch, the upcoming Amazon and MGM+ series centered on a younger Harry Bosch, has officially added six more key characters to its lineup. That is a big update for a show that already had a strong premise, especially because this project is heading into a part of Bosch’s life that Michael Connelly has only touched on in pieces before.
According to Deadline, the latest additions are Raphael Sbarge, Seamus Dever, Kenneth Miller, Marco Rodriguez, Rafi Gavron, and Ryan McPartlin. Dever will play Officer Hastings, described as a blunt training officer known as “Mr. Fix It,” while McPartlin plays Detective Mike Garner, a stubborn CRASH detective who quickly pushes back on Bosch. Sbarge has been cast as Sergeant “Sunshine” Finn, a cold and exacting sergeant whose standards terrify rookies. Miller plays Fremlin, a worker in Cory’s crew, Rodriguez plays Max Vargas, an ex-con whose return threatens his son’s life, and Gavron plays Restrepo, Cory’s sharp and loyal right-hand man.
The series is set in 1991 Los Angeles and follows 26-year-old Harry Bosch during his early days as a rookie cop. Cameron Monaghan is leading the show as the younger version of the character famously played by Titus Welliver, and the story will place him in a city marked by racial tension, gang violence, and a badly fractured LAPD. As Bosch tries to find his footing, he gets pulled into a high-profile heist and a wider network of criminal corruption that helps shape the detective he will eventually become.
The show also stars Omari Hardwick as Eli Bridges, Bosch’s training officer; Ariana Guerra as rookie officer Rosa; J.D. Pardo as professional thief Cory; Azita Ghanizada as Stacy; William Fichtner as Calhern; and Kathleen Wilhoite as Bosch’s foster mother, Helen.

Who Is Making 'Bosch: End of Watch'?
Behind the scenes, the series is produced by Fabel Entertainment and co-created by Tom Bernardo and Brian Anthony, with Bernardo also serving as showrunner. Michael Connelly, Henrik Bastin, Jamie Boscardin Martin, and Jasmine Russ executive produce, while Theresa Snider co-executive produces for Hieronymus Pictures.
In the announcement of the series, Connelly described the project as a personal milestone:
“Being able to see how Harry Bosch became the man we have loved for 10 seasons is a gift to me and his many fans,” he said. “I can’t wait to dig in with Cameron and the writers to explore this uncharted character territory.”
Bernardo echoed that excitement, calling it “a privilege” to tell the story of how both Bosch — and Los Angeles — were shaped in the early 1990s. “We want to honor the faith of Michael Connelly’s legion of readers and the amazing audience that tuned into Bosch and Bosch: Legacy over the years,” he said.
