A new 10-part crime thriller series was just added to Netflix, making it a great choice for subscribers to binge during this long holiday weekend. Within hours of its release, it has already become one of the top trending series on the platform.

While not a Netflix original series, this crime thriller debuted on NBC and Peacock and is currently in its second season. Interestingly, this series became an instant fan-favorite, earning a Rotten Tomatoes audience score of 83%, while also receiving unfavorable critic reviews.

The Hunting Party Season 1 Just Dropped On Netflix

The Hunting Party season 1 is one of the best new shows to binge-watch on Netflix this weekend. Not to be confused with the hit Netflix series The Hunting Wives, The Hunting Party is an action crime thriller series that follows a team that tracks down serial killers.

The entire 10-part first season of The Hunting Party was added to Netflix on February 15, 2026, and is poised to become one of the biggest streaming hits of the week ahead. The series stars Melissa Roxburgh, Patrick Sabongui, Josh McKenzie, Sara Garcia, and more.

The Hunting Party follows a traditional case-of-the-week format, similar to classic crime shows like Criminal Minds. More specifically, the FBI team targets an individual killer per episode who escaped from a top-secret prison that was completely off the books.

Overall, The Hunting Party is familiar television, which can either be a goof or a bad thing, depending on the viewer. If you enjoy network TV shows with a refined edge, like High Potential and Memory of A Killer, then chances are The Hunting Party will work for you. If you're more attuned to prestige TV on platforms like HBO Max or Apple TV, you may not find The Hunting Party all that interesting.

The Hunting Party Is Worth Watching Despite 18% RT Score

Netflix subscribers looking for a quick and casual crime thriller binge this weekend should give The Hunting Party a try. As a Netflix show, each episode is heavily structured with precise 42-minute runtimes. What's more, if you end up liking the series, then you can catch up on season 2, which is currently streaming on Peacock and NBC and will release new episodes throughout February and March.

The Hunting Party season 1 marked one of the largest divides between critics and audiences out of any new TV series last year. Critics gave the series a mere 18% score on Rotten Tomatoes, compared to the much more favorable 83% RT audience score.

The unusually massive gap between these two metrics indicates that the series appeals more to classic, formula-driven, "episode of the week" type of television, as opposed to anything that truly innovates the crime thriller genre. If you're looking for an entertaining yet familiar crime thriller show on Netflix this weekend, The Hunting Party is worth a binge.
