Mystery over Zendaya and Tom Holland's 'engagement' as her father DENIES role in the proposal

Zendaya and Tom Holland got engaged over the holidays after the English actor allegedly sought permission from the Challengers star's father.

However, in an exclusive phone call with DailyMail.com, Kazembe Ajamu Coleman denied a report that suggested Tom, 28, asked him for his daughter's hand in marriage before the proposal.

When reached for comment about his reaction to Zendaya, 28, getting engaged to Tom, Kazembe told DailyMail.com that it was 'a bunch of crap' that was reported.

'That was a bunch of crap dealt out by TMZ,' he said before adding, 'I don't know what you're talking about.'

When pried by a DailyMail.com reporter for more answers, he refused to comment further.

The star's father has stuck by her side throughout her career and has accompanied her to various red carpets and events as her manager and bodyguard. 

DailyMail.com has contacted reps for Zendaya and Tom Holland for comment. 

Sources close to the newly engaged couple told TMZ that the Spider-Man star met with Zendaya's father 'months ago' to get his blessing before he got down on one knee.

The sources went on to say that it was 'an important step' for Tom since he's 'very traditional' and wanted to secure Kazembe's blessing.

Tom reportedly popped the question 'between Christmas and New Year's,' but it wasn't made public until Zendaya made an appearance at the Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Zendaya showed off the sparkler ring on the red carpet, at first sparking engagement rumors.

It was later confirmed that she and Tom are engaged.

The Euphoria star's new cushion-cut 5-carat diamond is set on a 18k white and yellow gold band. 

The ring is said to be by the fashionable New Zealand-born and London-based jeweler, Jessica McCormack, and estimated to be worth over $200,000.

A source revealed to DailyMail.com that the proposal was 'sweet and romantic' and that Tom proposed the 'old-fashioned way.' 

Her family, including her mom Claire Stoermer and her five siblings, are 'thrilled.'

The source also revealed that 'starting a family' is next.

'They are the most normal couple at home, and she is ready to spend her life with him.

'She has gotten everything she dreamed of and marrying Tom and starting a family is next on her list,' the insider shared.

Their plan, per the insider, is to have the 'traditional family' of not having nannies or babysitters for help.

'They currently do not have a team at home. It is just them and this is how they prefer it,' the source added.

The couple appear to have very clear goals for their future. 

Tom recently expressed his hopes of quitting acting and becoming a stay-at-home-dad when the time comes to have children. 

He told Men's Health magazine: 'When I have kids, you will not see me in movies anymore.

'Golf and dad - and I will just disappear off the face of the earth.'

Zendaya and Tom met on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017, but kept their relationship out of the public eye. 

It wasn't until 2021 when they officially confirmed they were secretly dating.  

The Hollywood couple owns a $3.7 million posh property in London's Richmond neighborhood where they enjoy spending time with their Doberman puppy named Noon.

Tom previously revealed the reason he keeps his relationship with girlfriend Zendaya so private is because their bond is the 'thing he keeps most sacred.'
