Monarch: Legacy of Monsters' second season is set to pit both Kong and Godzilla against a terrifying new Titan, one which may have an ability unseen in the Monsterverse. The first season of Apple TV+'s companion show to Legendary's connected cinematic universe chronicled the efforts of the humans involved with the TItan-tracking organization Monarch, and the second season is set to pick up that narrative.

So far, the promotional materials have been focused on a mysterious new monster that hasn't yet been seen in the Monsterverse. The massive, tentacled, aquatic Titan has been seen in nearly its entirety between the trailers and a secret clip hidden behind a code on a Monarch website, and it is certainly intimidating. However, its most dangerous weapon appears to be something far more sinister.

Titan X Appears To Be Able To Mimic Other Titans

 Legacy of the Monsters

In the season 2 trailer for Monarch and again in the secret clip on monarchdeeprift.com, the tail end of Titan X's earth-shattering roar, a very distinct and familiar call appears to echo. The chittering shriek of Mothra appears to be part of Titan X's own call, to the point that eagle-eyed (eared?) Godzilla fans picked it out right away in the trailer before the clearer confirmation on the secret site.

While it's possible that there is simply some re-use of sound effects here, that seems highly unlikely for something as recognizable and definitive as Mothra's call. The implication is that Titan X may be able to mimic the call of other Titans, in this case Mothra. It's possible that gives it the ability to essentially fly under Godzilla's radar, presenting its bioacoustics as the other half of Godzilla's symbiotic relationship as opposed to a lethal destroyer-class Titan.

An even more frightening implication is that Titan X uses the mimicry aggressively, meaning that the call is not meant to deter Godzilla, but to attract him. It's possible that with its massive size, Titan X could be actively hunting Godzilla as a new threat in the world seeking out the alpha to usurp him, and possibly prey upon him and other Titans.

Titan X's Ability May Set Up A Key Plotline From Godzilla: King Of The Monsters

 King of the Monsters

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 still appears to be set before the events of Godzilla: King of the Monsters, as season 1 was, meaning Titan X's bioacoustics could be a set-up for one of the key elements of the 2019 movie. A device created by Emma and Mark Russell known as the ORCA analyzed the bioacoustics of various Titans, using sonar frequencies to antagonize or pacify various Titans.

Titan X may be one of the keys to the Russells' creation of the ORCA, which they began working on following Godzilla and the MUTOs' battle in San Francisco. While the ultimate key to unlocking its ability to pacify Titans was the bioacoustics of a human, Titan X's ability to mimic other Titans could help them lay the groundwork for the ORCA.

More information on Titan X will surely be revealed as Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 progresses, and with how often it has been shown in the trailers, we are likely in for a ton of action between it, Godzilla, and Kong. If Titan X is able to mimic either of those Titans or any others on the surface or in the Hollow Earth, it will be among the most dangerous enemies either of the Alpha Titans has ever faced.
