Patrick J. Adams, best known for his breakout role as Mike Ross on the hit legal drama Suits, has recently commented on the possibility of reprising his iconic character following the cancellation of Suits LA.
The original Suits series followed Mike, who gets a job as a lawyer at a law firm, Pearson Hardman, when he accidentally runs into Harvey Specter's (Gabriel Macht) office after fleeing from a drug deal gone wrong. As a result, Harvey thought he was there for an interview that he was conducting, and surprisingly, he got the job despite never attending law school. However, the character did pass the bar exam later on in the show.
Although Mike was the lead character in the flagship show, he never appeared in Suits LA. In an interview with ScreenRant's Liam Crowley for The Madison, Adams revealed why he never guest-starred in the short-lived spinoff series. The actor said that he was never asked to go on the show, mainly due to scheduling conflicts. "I was too busy. I had a lot of stuff going on," he explained.
Suits LA getting canceled took away his chances of reprising his role on the spinoff. However, the actor said he wouldn't be opposed to portraying the character again. He explained that the Suits universe won't be releasing any more shows in the near future, but that doesn't mean that the franchise is dead. While he believed that Mike's story had concluded, he revealed that if the right opportunity came along, he would be more than happy to pick the role up again.
He added that he was good friends with Suits creator Aaron Korsh, and was very proud of the world that the series created and all the characters in it. He also expressed his love for Mike and is very grateful for all the doors that the role opened for him, launching the successful career he has now.
Look, I feel like we told the story, but I'm also good friends with Aaron Korsh, the creator. I have so much love for that world, and the characters that we created. So if it was the right thing, for sure, I'd always be open to it. But it feels like maybe, we're taking a pause after Suits LA? So yeah, but I love Mike. I mean, that role, that character and that show gave me the whole life that I've grown very accustomed to.
Beyond his work on Suits, Adams has appeared in several other critically acclaimed TV shows, such as Wayward and A League of Their Own. He will also star as Russell McIntosh in The Madison. The upcoming Taylor Sheridan series will follow a family that moves from New York City to the Madison River valley of Montana after a tragedy. The drama will also star Michelle Pfeiffer as Stacy Clyburn and Kurt Russell as her husband, Preston Clyburn.
The Madison will premiere on March 14, 2026, exclusively on Paramount+.
