James Haven has revealed he was astonished at how supportive his father Jon Voight was after he came out as gay.
Haven, who infamously kissed his sister Angelina Jolie on the mouth at the 2000 Oscars and Golden Globes, announced his sexuality on a livestream last Thursday.
He broke the news while sitting with his ex-wife Romi Imbelli, whom he has remained close friends with since the annulment of their brief marriage in 2024.
Now, he has disclosed the 'surreal' and 'mind-blowing' contents of the 'really nice chat' his father had with him over the phone in the wake of his revelation.
'I finally know who you are,' Voight told Haven, who shared details of the conversation during an appearance on the podcast All Out with Jon Dean.
Voight, 87, and Haven, 53, have in the past had a checkered relationship, to the point of at one stage not speaking for six years, but mended fences over dinner.
The Daily Mail has contacted a representative for Voight for comment.

Haven was accompanied during his latest interview by Imbelli, who had warned him before Voight's phone call that the coming out had gone viral.
Voight rang multiple times over 15 minutes before Haven finally braced himself and picked up, opening the floor by saying: 'Hey....'
'So...,' Voight began, to which Haven thought: 'Uh-huh, here we go,' before his father continued: 'So, I finally know who you are.'
'And all of a sudden, we had this really nice chat,' Haven told Dean, adding that he rang Imbelli 'immediately' to say: 'Oh my God, I did not expect this phone call.'
'Well, we were waiting for the response,' Imbelli explained. 'It's caused a lot of pain to both of us, you know, it's a lot like: "What is dad going to say?" And this is the biggest thing and then he does that, right?'
Haven pointed out that his father's acceptance of his sexual orientation came after 'decades' of strained relations between the pair, during which Haven experienced a 'really tough upbringing' and felt 'no value' from his father.
Haven and Jolie have had a rollercoaster equation with Voight since his 1976 split from their mother Marcheline Bertrand, who publicly accused him of infidelity.
In the intervening decades, Voight's two children have had various fallings-out and reconciliations with him in a family drama that has unfolded in the public eye.

Voight shared during the call that he understood why his son had 'been so private,' and was able to comprehend Haven's 'entire behavior.'

Haven and Imbelli exchanged vows at a ceremony in Laguna Beach, California, in August 2024, but a mere 15 days later she filed for an annulment.
Last week, Haven revealed that he was gay by reading a prepared statement during a livestream for Imbelli's Substack, in which she joined him.
He recalled being 'obsessed with the Disney princesses' as a child and feeling 'like magic' when he would 'sneak glitter onto my cheeks' and 'swipe mascara onto my lashes,' a process that 'made me feel more like me.'
Haven added: 'I hope my family and others can choose love over fear, understanding over judgment, and connection over the beliefs that may have kept us apart. I hope they can look beyond the labels and simply see me with the same heart, the same laugh, the same soul they've always known.'
Imbelli, meanwhile, shared that she had developed an inkling that Haven was gay by the time they married but 'didn't want to see it' and 'didn't want to believe.'
