Michael Fassbender's Spy Thriller Series Is Worth Watching

The Agency debuted on December 1, 2024, on Paramount+ with Showtime. The spy thriller is based on the successful French series The Bureau, or Le Bureau des Légendes. Fassbender stars as the CIA officer who goes by the codename Martian. The Agency revolves around Martian's return to London after a long time undercover overseas. When he comes home, his two lives get entangled.

The spy thriller series features a star-studded cast. Led by Fassbender as Martian, The Agency also includes names like Jeffrey Wright (Westworld) as Henry Ogletree, Jodie Turner-Smith (The Acolyte) as Dr. Samia Fatima Zahir, Katherine Waterston (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) as Naomi, Richard Gere (Pretty Woman) as Bosko, Dominic West (The Crown) as the CIA Director, and more.

The Agency has a positive 77% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. The show had a successful first season, being renewed for season 2 just a few days after its first two episodes were released. The Agency is a tense spy thriller series that makes a moody London its setting and delves into the minds of those living double lives and how far one will go to save the ones they love.

How Paramount+'s The Agency Keeps Getting Better

The Agency is a slow-burn psychological thriller series. As such, this espionage story is slowly unraveled through season 1's 10 episodes. What this means is that the first few episodes focus more on establishing the world, the political game being played behind the scenes, and how everything can be turned upside down. Then, the second half of the season shakes up the board.

The Paramount+ spy thriller series' episode scores on IMDB help make that as clear as can be. The Agency's highest-rated episode is the season 1 finale, "Overtaken by Events," with an 8.3. On the other hand, the show's first episode, "The Bends," is its lowest-rated episode with 7.3. That makes it clear that The Agency keeps getting better as it goes, and spy thriller fans should give it a chance.
