Season 4's 88% stops the downward trend of every From season having a lower audience score than the one that preceded it. This is a promising sign since it was announced that the renewed season 5 will be the end of the series. As the series gets closer to the conclusion and sets up the endgame, the audience reception is now poised to continue improving instead of getting worse.
Many of the season 4 audience reviews on Rotten Tomatoes praise the show for delivering a strong premiere that wastes no time in moving the story forward. The new character of Sophia (Julia Doyle) is also mentioned as a strength in multiple reviews, along with the compelling information about her that is revealed at the end of season 4, episode 1. The less favorable audience reviews express frustration with certain mysteries staying unresolved and some characters continuing to be unlikable.
With a 100% Tomatometer score for the second season in a row, critics are more unified in their perspective of the new season. In ScreenRant's From season 4 review, Jordan Williams gives a score of nine out of 10 stars and writes that "the MGM+ series is entering a new era in which the horrors, character dynamics, and satisfaction of long-awaited answers have never been better."
Along with Cheramy as Julie and Doyle as Sophia, From season 4's cast of series regulars includes Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau), Tabitha Matthews (Catalina Sandino Moreno), Ethan Matthews (Simon Webster), Jade Herrera (David Alpay), Donna Raines (Elizabeth Saunders), Ellis Stevens (Corteon Moore), Fatima Hassan (Pegah Ghafoori), Victor Kavanaugh (Scott McCord), Henry Kavanaugh (Robert Joy), Sara Myers (Avery Konrad), Kristi Miller (Chloe Van Landschot), Marielle Sinclair (Kaelen Ohm), Officer Acosta (Samantha Brown), Elgin Williams (Nathan D. Simmons), Randall Kirkland (A.J. Simmons), and Bakta (Angela Moore).
The Man in Yellow has a recurring role, and despite his death, Jim will still make some appearances, as seen during his final moments at the start of season 4, episode 1 and in the trailers. Jamie McGuire is also back as the monster known as Smiley, who was reborn at the end of season 3. From was created by John Griffin, with Jeff Pinker serving as the showrunner, and Jack Bender directing many of the episodes.
From season 4 releases new episodes on MGM+ on Sundays.
