Merle Dandridge Cast As Series Regular In USA Network’s ‘The Rainmaker’ For Season 2

EXCLUSIVE: Merle Dandridge (The Last of Us, Station 19) has been set as a series regular of USA Network‘s The Rainmaker for Season 2. She will play Amanda Vonn, a powerhouse attorney who provides a fresh gateway to power for Sarah (Madison Iseman) and a new kind of adversary for Rudy (Milo Callaghan).

Based on the best-selling novel by John Grisham, Rudy Baylor, who is fresh out of law school, goes head-to-head with courtroom lion Leo Drummond as well as his law school girlfriend, Sarah. Rudy, along with his boss, Bruiser (Lana Parrilla), and her disheveled paralegal, Deck (P. J. Byrne), uncover two connected conspiracies surrounding the mysterious death of their client’s son.  

The Season 1 cast also includes John Slattery, Lana Parrilla, Dan Fogler, Wade Briggs and Robyn Cara. Season 2 will also include Austin Nichols, who Deadline previously announced as part of the recurring cast. He will play Bruiser’s ex-husband, a minor league baseball coach and former player who finds himself in the middle of a dangerous conspiracy.

The Rainmaker is produced by Lionsgate Television and Blumhouse Television. Michael Seitzman, who also serves as showrunner, Grisham, Patrick Moran, Jason Richman, David Gernert and Jason Blum serve as executive producers. 

Dandridge is most recently known for playing Marlene, leader of the fireflies, in HBO’s adaptation of The Last of Us, based on Naughty Dog’s video game of the same name, and as Chief Ross in ABC’s Station 19. Additional notable roles also include Zarina Killebrew in Apple TV+’s Truth Be Told, the leading role of Grace Greenleaf in Oprah Winfrey’s Greenleaf, and as Joana in the upcoming second season of Prime Video’s Citadel. Dandridge is repped by SDB Partners, Cornerstone Talent, and Schreck Rose Dapello.
