Marcello Hernández Sets the Record Straight on Sabrina Carpenter Dating Rumors
Marcello Hernández is no manchild when it comes to quelling romance rumors.
The Saturday Night Live star addressed ongoing speculation that he is dating Sabrina Carpenter, offering a simple explanation as to why they’re simply “pals” and nothing more.
“I’m in a relationship with a Dominican girl. She’s an architect. She’s unreal. She went to Yale,” Marcello, 28, shared on the Jan. 26 episode of Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast. “Sabrina’s awesome, she’s really funny and cool. She’s great.”
Indeed, Marcello has been dating Ana Amelia Batlle Cabral, with the duo making their red carpet debut at the Happy Gilmore 2 premiere in July just a few months after stepping out at The Phoenician Scheme’s premiere after-party in May.
As for how the romance speculation with Sabrina came to be, it quite simply came direct from the very viral SNL sketch “Domingo.”
Though the first iteration starred Ariana Grande as a member of a bachelorette party recounting their trip—and the bride’s subsequent affair with Marcello’s titular character—to the tune of Sabrina’s “Espresso,” the Disney Channel alum soon joined in.

In fact, after arresting Marcello dressed as Domingo during a November 2024 concert, she subsequently joined the sketch’s sequel at the SNL50 celebration a few months later and then again this past October.
Though no connection but a strong friendship developed between Sabrina and Marcello, he praised her comedic instincts—and her love of the now-iconic sketch.
“The Domingo thing was big, and she was all about it and it was so cool,” he explained to Dax on the podcast, calling the moment Sabrina arrested him at her show “an unreal experience.”

Marcello added, “Sabrina’s really down to clown. She’s down to think of something funny. She’s an actress… They’re so good, the young actors.”

The appearance was made even more special because it was literally fan-demanded through a successful Facebook campaign after White's role in The Proposal.
She's also on this list because, well, she was freaking hilarious. Our favorite sketch from the episode is this absurd one where Tina Fey's census taker tries, in vain, to get a straight answer out of White.
