However, Maddie’s fears were not unfounded, as throughout her life she had a strong support system made of her mother Paula and her longtime friends Helen and Dana Sue, who cannot be truly there for her in New York. Indeed, Maddie and her family moving to New York will inevitably change Maddie’s friendship dynamic with Dana Sue and Helen.

While Helen supportively mentioned long-distance calls replacing their margarita nights, a key tenet of Maddie, Dana Sue and Helen’s friendship was their dropping everything to be there for one another, consistently and in person.
