Macy Gray's dramatic moments as singer is branded a 'diva' following THAT Masked Singer meltdown

3 days ago 14

Macy Gray shocked fans after she stormed off stage in fury on the Masked Singer UK on Saturday night.

It took ITV production staff an hour to persuade Macy to return to the stage after her jaw-dropping strop when she was told to take off her mask.

But it's not the first time the 57-year-old singer pulled off a chaotic appearance in her career that's left fans dumbfounded.

She had a similar meltdown in 2021 when she appeared on the Australian version of the show and sulked when she was voted off.

It comes as no surprise to some who have encountered Macy's bizarre behaviour, with Lord Snowden even branding the singer the 'rudest person' after she walked out on her Vogue photoshoot.

She also sparked concern when she claimed she was a 'vampire' during an usual appearance on Lorraine.

Following the star's latest meltdown, MailOnline takes a look at all Macy's diva moments in the life of the fiery star.

Walked off stage on Masked Singer UK

Macy Gray 'stormed off' The Masked Singer on Saturday night after being the latest celebrity voted off.

Presenter Joel Dommett said it was the 'funniest thing I've ever seen in my life' as the American singer, who was dressed as a giant Toad, walked off the stage after the results.

Speaking to Paddy McGuinness on BBC Radio 2 on Sunday, Joel joked that Macy couldn't be disappointed about leaving the show early 'because you get the same money and you don't have to do anything else'.

He said: 'This is why The Masked Singer is so good, it doesn't matter if you're a good singer or if you're not, the show doesn't sit in either camp.

'The case with Macy is she is a legend, she has a recognisable voice and she might as well go because we all know it is her, and they put the other person through because we still don't know who they are.

'If you go home early though it is a win-win situation because you get the same money and you don't have to do anything else.'

He continued: 'You can't be vexed when you're dressed as a toad. In my professional career - I love Macy, she is incredible, great voice - but I have never witnessed anything more funny than a 6ft toad storming off. It's the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life.

'And my shorts, I suggested we make them shorter for each ad break as a joke, and they did it, and when she stormed off I was in like hot pants.'

Macy did not look impressed and completely shocked ITV viewers as she walked off the stage after being announced as the latest celebrity to be leaving The Masked Singer UK.

The American singer had to remove her costume head to reveal her identity after being voted off after performing against Bear, Wolf, Pufferfish and Bush.

Joel has also reshared a clip to his Instagram grid of him hosting the show as Macy walked off and simply wrote: 'lol'.

Meanwhile judge Maya Jama shared a TikTok created by ITVX of Macy's walk-off which read: 'Me at any inconvenience:'

When she took part in the Australian version of the programme, judge Dave 'Hughesy' Hughes claimed Macy had 'refused to leave' after she was voted off.

He told 2Day FM's Morning Crew: 'Macy Gray had such passion for The Masked Singer that when she was told that she had to leave the show, which you saw last night, she refused to leave the show.

'She said "No, I'm continuing in the show", and there had to be a discussion which went for quite a while as to "No, you have to leave".

'She said "No, I'm not leaving".'

Dave said Macy refused to take her head off because she was disappointed at leaving the competition.

'She wanted to do something special for it so she decided that in her photograph she would be naked on stage. It is a very sexy statement.'

In August 2024, The Surreal Life viewers watched as Macy was rushed to the hospital in a wheelchair after her shot of Ozempic caused breathlessness and left her unable to walk.

After previously revealing that the weight-loss drug had caused a painful bout of constipation, she was met with further complications that forced production to race her to the emergency room.

Initially opening up about her symptoms, Macy explained that she was having shortness of breath and finding it hard to move around.

Macy divulged her Ozempic use in the second episode during a conversation with costars Kim Zolciak and Johnny Weir.

'Oh boy, my stomach hurts. I've just been really constipated. I took Ozempic. I can't go to the bathroom, and I was up all night', she said.

Former Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kim, 46, then quipped: 'Ozempic does that.'

'Last night it hurt,' Macy shared, prompting Kim to warn: 'You have to be careful, you know.'

Macy added: 'I go on tour after this, so I was trying to lose weight really fast.'

Speaking in her confessional, she said: 'Quietly, I'm kind of a vain person. I've gained a lot of weight over the past couple years, and this is right about the time when everybody starts talking about this Ozempic.

'So, I thought, okay, I'm not taking it off the right way, let me see if I can get one of these Ozempic.

'I was actually trying to take it off [the weight] before the show because I didn't want to be super fat on TV, but here we are.'
