Loni Love is backing up her girl Sherri Shepherd.

The former talk show host and comedian took to social media on Tuesday, February 3, just hours after news broke that Shepherd's eponymous talk show, Sherri, would be canceled after four seasons, to share her thoughts on the way the announcement was handled, telling her followers on X that she believes Shepherd should've been given the "courtesy" to announce the show's end as opposed to the news breaking in an article.

The Real personality also pointed out that Kelly Clarkson — whose show was canceled on the same day — was afforded the opportunity to announce the end of her show after a seven-season run, allowing her viewers to hear it from her first, calling the lack of grace extended to Shepherd, "depressing."

Sherri should have been given the courtesy of announcing her show’s end instead of an article announcing it. (Just like Kelly got to announce her show's end.) It’s not like The Real, which was a panel show, but this was a solo-hosted show. Or the production company could have at least made a joint announcement as a producer and host. Seeing 'cancelled' stamped all over your picture is depressing, especially when the show was having good ratings. Only onward and upward from this, @sherrieshepherd.

Deadline was first to break the news Monday that Shepherd's show was ending at Fox after four seasons, despite its positive ratings, with producer-distributor, Debmar-Mercury, citing the evolving daytime TV landscape as the reason for ending the show on broadcast networks. While they said they intend to explore Sherri on other platforms, the show will effectively come to a close at the end of Season 4, with episodes to wrap in the fall.

This decision is driven by the evolving daytime television landscape and does not reflect on the strength of the show, its production – which has found strong creative momentum this season – or the incredibly talented Sherri Shepherd. We believe in this show and in Sherri and intend to explore alternatives for it on other platforms.

On the same day, Clarkson announced that she would be ending her long-running talk show, saying the decision was hers alone, and that she was stepping away from the show to prioritize time with her two children.

"This was not an easy decision, but this season will be my last hosting 'The Kelly Clarkson Show,'" Clarkson said in a statement.

Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives. This isn't goodbye. I'll still be making music, playing shows here and there, and you may catch me on 'The Voice' from time to time … you never know where I might show up next. But for now, I want to thank y'all so much for allowing our show to be a part of your lives, and for believing in us and hanging with us for seven incredible years.

Sherri debuted on the Fox stations in September 2022 as a replacement for Debmar-Mercury's The Wendy Williams Show, after Wendy Williams exited her show amid health concerns. Shepherd has yet to speak out on the talk show's cancellation.
