Jason Momoa's 2026 movie lineup is beginning well, as his latest film, The Wrecking Crew, is at the top of Prime Video's movie chart. Momoa's ascension in Hollywood began with his role as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones. Since then, he's starred in many blockbusters, especially action films.
He's played heroic characters like Aquaman in the DCEU, but has also shown he can bring delightful menace to a role, like Dante in Fast X. In 2025, he starred in one of the biggest films of the year, A Minecraft Movie, teaming up with Jack Black for the video game adaptation.
The actor has an impressive slate for 2026, starting with The Wrecking Crew. The film is already performing well on streaming, and is a good start for Momoa's lineup this year.
Jason Momoa's The Wrecking Crew Is The No. 1 Film On Prime Video
Image via Prime VideoThe Wrecking Crew is an action-packed ride starring Momoa and Dave Bautista. In the film, the two actors play estranged brothers who reunite after their father's death. While uncovering the mystery, the brothers find themselves entangled in a dangerous conspiracy.
The film premiered on Prime Video on January 28, and rose to the top of the platform's movie charts. According to FlixPatrol, The Wrecking Crew is currently the No. 1 film on Prime Video, ahead of Ballerina, Trap House, Kung Fu Panda 4, and The Baker.
In addition to its streaming success, the film has also been well-received by critics, earning a 75% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. It's an excellent choice for viewers who are looking for a purely entertaining action film featuring two charismatic stars, and is a nice start to 2026 for Momoa.
Jason Momoa Has A Fantastic Lineup For 2026
Following The Wrecking Crew, Momoa has four more films set to debut in 2026. The first film is Animal Friends, releasing on May 1. The movie is a live-action animated hybrid, centering around two fugitive animals who are on an adventure while being pursued by the DEA.
Momoa voices a character named Bear, and is joined by an impressive cast that includes Ryan Reynolds, Aubrey Plaza, Dan Levy, Eric Andre, and Vince Vaughn. It is directed by Peter Atencio, who previously directed Key & Peele and 2016's Keanu.
In June, Momoa makes his DCU debut as Lobo in Supergirl. Lobo is an intergalactic bounty hunter and mercenary, a sharp contradiction from his previous DC role as Aquaman. It'll be exciting to see him taking on a role that looks like he was born to play.
In October, the actor is starring in another video game adaptation in Street Fighter. Momoa is playing Blanka, a ferocious man with green skin who has electric attacks. He is only one part of the film's massive cast, which includes Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, Callina Liang, David Dastmalchian, and Cody Rhodes.
Finally, in December, Momoa is reprising his role as Duncan Idaho in Dune: Part 3. His character was absent from Dune: Part 2, and it'll be interesting to see how director Denis Villeneuve handles his return. The Wrecking Crew is truly just the beginning for Momoa in 2026.
