Martin Scorsese's famous thriller movie is getting a TV remake soon.

Apple TV's remake of Scorsese's iconic psychological thriller Cape Fear has been revealed in first look images of the upcoming series. The upcoming Cape Fear TV remake stars Javier Bardem as Max Cady, a ruthless criminal released from prison who is out for revenge against his public defender, Tom Bowden (Patrick Wilson) and his wife, Anna (Amy Adams).

Now, Apple TV has released new images from Cape Fear, showcasing a first look at Bardem, Wilson, and Adams in their respective roles. The framing of the images hint at a dark drama, one that plays on the fears of the Bowdens as Max seeks vengeance. Apple also confirmed the show will begin on Friday, June 5.

Check out the images below:

The series is reported to run for 10 episodes. Other stars involved in Cape Fear include CCH Pounder in a main role, alongside recurring roles for Jullian Dulce Vida, Lily Collins, Joe Anders, Ron Perlman, Ted Levine, and Patrick Fischler, among others. The series began filming in late April 2025 before wrapping in October that same year.

The TV rendition of the story is being headed by Nick Antosca, who's previously worked as a producer and writer for shows like Hannibal and Channel Zero. In addition, both Scorsese and Steven Spielberg serve as executive producers through their respective production companies, Sikelia Productions and Amblin Television.

This will be the third major adaptation of John D. MacDonald's 1957 novel The Executioners to be adapted under the title of Cape Fear. The first was in 1962, starring Gregory Peck as Sam Bowden and Robert Mitchum as Max Cady. The second was in 1991, directed by Scorsese, starring Nick Nolte as Sam and Robert De Niro as Max.

The images don't reveal much about how the series will play out, but it does signify that Max's quest for revenge against the couple will be a very public affair. Adams' reaction to something offscreen, coupled with how serious Wilson's character looks in his image, signifies there's plenty of drama to be had when the former prisoner's schemes begin.

As for how the series will measure up to previous adaptations, Cape Fear's lengthier runtime means it could delve more into parts of the book that have been left out of the movies that came before it. There will likely also be a number of original ideas for the adaptation which elevate how different it is contrasted to what came before.
