No sneakers on the carpet? No Cannes do.

The Paris fest’s famously strict dress code — recently updated with a red carpet sneaker ban — didn’t stop Kristen Stewart from boasting a chic high-low ensemble on the Croisette. The actor arrived to a photocall for her new movie “Full Phil” on Friday afternoon in a pair of vintage, worn-down saddle-style Nike sneakers — a silhouette just elegant (and Oxford-esque) enough to make the Croisette cut. The 1986 style is hard to come by online but these black-and-white Mary Janes from Dr. Martens are a solid dupe.

Her footwear of choice not only stood out for its informality but because of its pairing with couture Chanel, a sheer-two piece set from Matthieu Blazy’s 2026 collection. For Stewart, no stranger to breaking the status quo, the non-sneaker sneakers looked right at home on the Palaise steps.

Stewart doubled down on her laidback styling later that evening at the “Full Phil” premiere where she paired a red and black knit Chanel gown from Blazy’s fall 2026 collection with a pair of all-black Converse sneakers, pulled directly from her closet. While the sneakers don’t technically fall into the the fest’s strict dress code, stylists are often able to bend the rules, especially for big stars, if the overall look is considered polished enough. Based on the praise online, Stewart passed the test.

Quentin Dupieux’s “Full Phil” stars Stewart and and Woody Harrelson as a father-daughter duo who travel to Paris in an attempt to reconnect. However, French cuisine, a 1950s horror movie and a nosy hotel employee interrupt their stay. The film premiered at Cannes on Friday night, receiving a lively five-minute standing ovation despite mixed reviews from critics.

Thankfully, Stewart’s Cannes style was praised unanimously. Shop sneakers inspired by her Croisette footwear below:
