Netflix is continuing an impressive Oscars streak with one of KPop Demon Hunters' nominations. Demon Hunters is Netflix's biggest movie ever, setting new viewership records for the platform. According to Netflix, it has 325.1 million views, smashing Red Notice's previous record of 230.9 million.

Outside of streaming, the film has also had a major impact on the music industry. KPop's soundtrack climbed the charts in 2025 and showed longevity, with "Golden" reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for several weeks. After its success on the streaming and music charts, it's no surprise to see it being celebrated this awards season.

Demon Hunters has already won several awards and is now up for a couple of Oscars at the 98th Academy Awards. One award it's in contention for is Best Animated Feature Film, and this nomination keeps a seven-year streak alive for Netflix in this category.

Netflix Has Had At Least One Nomination For Best Animated Feature Since 2019

Since Shrek won the first Best Animated Feature Film award in 2002, the award has frequently gone to films from Disney and Pixar. However, other studios, including Studio Ghibli and Sony, have also won this prize for films like The Boy and the Heron and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

In recent years, Netflix has emerged as a significant competitor in this category. The company received its first Best Animated Feature nomination in 2019 with two films: I Lost My Body and Klaus. While these films lost to Toy Story 4 at the 2020 Academy Awards, they started a notable streak for the streaming service.

Netflix has had at least one film nominated for Best Animated Feature in the last seven years, including Over the Moon, The Mitchells vs. The Machines, The Sea Beast, Nimona, and Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl. In 2023, Netflix won for the first time in this category for Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio.

The streamer is on a hot streak of distributing acclaimed animated projects. KPop Demon Hunters is the latest Netflix film to earn a nomination in this category, and it has a strong chance of becoming its second winner.

KPop Demon Hunters Has A Great Chance Of Winning Its Oscar Category

KPop Demon Hunters is currently the clear frontrunner to win Best Animated Feature Film. The film already won the Critics' Choice Award and the Golden Globe for the same category. Additionally, it also has the highest odds of winning, according to Polymarket.

Another film beating KPop would be surprising, but there is some strong competition. Zootopia 2 performed well with critics and dominated the worldwide box office, becoming the second-highest animated film ever, behind Ne Zha 2. Arco, Elio, and Little Amélie or the Character of Rain are also critical hits, but are underdogs in this competition.

Demon Hunters also has a great chance of ending the 2026 Oscars with two wins, as it's also the favorite to win Best Original Song for "Golden." The film is a massive success for Netflix and will likely earn the streamer its second Best Animated Feature Film award, making the company an even stronger competitor in this category.
