Kris Jenner’s Mom and Kardashian Grandma MJ Shannon Dead at 91
Kim Kardashian is sharing her side of the story.
After a recap of her recent lake vacation was uploaded to Instagram around the same time that her mom Kris Jenner announced the death of her own mom Mary Jo “MJ” Shannon, the SKIMS founder explained the unfortunate mishap.
“This post was scheduled a few days ago before we lost MJ,” Kim wrote in the comments after being called out for sharing the “lake life” highlights during a family tragedy, “so its timing came right alongside her passing.”
Meanwhile, the 45-year-old—who spent time at the lake alongside Khloe Kardashian, Kylie Jenner and her kids Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 7—shared that she was actually supporting her family during their difficult week.
“I've been by my mom and grandma's side this past week, and my heart is completely with my family right now,” she continued. “We love and miss her so deeply, and in the days ahead, we'll be focusing on celebrating her beautiful life.”
Shortly after clarifying her post’s timing, Kim paid tribute to her grandmother, who she called “my best friend, my gossip buddy, my forever twin.”
“You taught all of us the importance of family, and those values are something we’ll carry with us forever!!!!!” she wrote on Instagram alongside throwback pictures with MJ. “You were the woman who showed me what it meant to be a hardworking businesswoman.”

“You gave me my very first job at your store in San Diego and taught me lessons about work ethic, strength, and confidence that I’ve carried with me ever since,” the All’s Fair actress continued. “You always believed in me, championed me, and were my safe place. You truly were the matriarch of our family, and your love is woven into all of us.”
While asking her grandma to give her late dad Robert Kardashian Sr. a hug for her in heaven, Kim sent her love to MJ.

“I know you’re at peace now,” she concluded. “You will always be a part of me, I love you soooooo much and I will miss you forever and ever. YOU ARE THE BEST OF US!!!”
