Ross is a writer for screenrant. He always stays up to date on the latest movies, whether it's blockbusters or independent dramas. When not watching movies, he can be found at the beach or traveling to amusement parks to ride the best rollercoasters. He is a fan of Marvel, DC, Star Wars, John Wick, Game of Thrones, and anything Disney.

A sequel to Jurassic World Rebirth hasn't officially been confirmed, but its current popularity on Netflix and HBO Max further proves a sequel is likely after its successful theatrical run. 2015's Jurassic World revitalized the franchise with new dinosaurs and a new cast with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.

The film grossed over $1.6 billion worldwide, and led to two sequels: Fallen Kingdom and Dominion. The sequels weren't critical hits, but audiences still showed up in theaters and both films made over $1 billion worldwide. After the trilogy ended, the franchise moved in a new direction with 2025's Jurassic World Rebirth.

Rebirth received mixed reactions from critics, earning a 50% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it was still a commercial success, grossing $869.1 million worldwide. It wouldn't be surprising if Universal moved forward with Jurassic World 5, and its success on Netflix and HBO Max proves that a sequel to Rebirth would be a worthwhile decision.

Jurassic World Rebirth Is Topping The Charts On HBO Max And Netflix

In Rebirth, a new crew travels to an abandoned research facility on a dinosaur-inhabited island. They're tasked with finding and recovering dinosaur samples that can be used to create incredible medicine for humanity. However, the island is filled with danger, as familiar and unfamiliar dinosaurs present major threats to the film's characters.

The film was directed by Godzilla's Gareth Edwards and stars Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali. It was recently added to Netflix, and is currently the No. 1 movie on the service's top 10 movies chart. The other Jurassic World films were also added to the service, and are also holding spots on the chart.

Meanwhile, Rebirth is also at the top of the global charts on HBO Max, according to FlixPatrol. However, it isn't on the domestic charts, as it isn't available on the platform in the U.S. The Jurassic series is one of Hollywood's most successful franchises, and its popularity on both platforms shows audiences are still interested in these films.

Rebirth's Streaming And Box Office Success Prove Another Sequel Would Likely Be Successful

The last few Jurassic World films haven't been critical hits, but they've been commercially successful. While Rebirth did not reach $1 billion like the last two, it still showed that audiences want to see these films. It was the highest-grossing film of July 2025, beating Superman and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Its recent streaming success further proves the franchise's popularity, and a fifth film would likely be another hit. While Jurassic World 5's status is still unknown, Rebirth did provide some set up for a sequel. The notion of dinosaur DNA having medical benefits for humankind is worth exploring, especially if more corporations try to exploit dinosaurs as a result.

Rebirth also featured a few unique and creepy hybrid dinosaurs, and a sequel could introduce even more creative dino combinations. There is also an opportunity to mix the new cast with the previous Jurassic World cast, bringing back Pratt and Howard. Rebirth left the door open for a sequel, which has a strong chance of getting the green light soon.
