If you enjoyed Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista's recent action hit, a sequel may be on its way.

Momoa and Bautista star in The Wrecking Crew as estranged half-brothers who are brought back together by their father's mysterious death and find themselves at the heart of a conspiracy. Armed with a solid 81% on Rotten Tomatoes, Angel Manuel Soto's buddy comedy has become a major hit on Prime Video. Now, a key creative teases that there may be more to come.

In an interview with The Direct, The Wrecking Crew's screenwriter Jonathan Tropper expressed hopes to eventually produce a sequel. While both stars have busy schedules, Tropper shares that they have "a pretty strong idea" for the next installment's story and that "Amazon wants another one." He also discussed how, now that the "brothers are now united in a way they weren't before," the writers would have to come up with "a much more difficult situation."

Check out Tropper's full comments below:

The Direct: Jumping back to The Wrecking Crew, I'm curious with how great their dynamic is and all the fun action, and... I just feel like there's a lot of stories there with those two people. If there were ever a Wrecking Crew 2, what do you think that looks like?

Jonathan Tropper: I've talked about it with Jason [Momoa] a little bit, and I would have talked about with Dave [Bautista], except Dave is so busy making two other movies right now. But yeah, I think we have a pretty strong idea ... These brothers are now united in a way they weren't before and so I think if we did another one, it would be basically to up the ante, up the stakes, and put them in a much more difficult situation than they were in the first one ... and watch sort of whatever relationship they've built between the first and the second one start to unravel, because they're thrown into the trenches again together.

Tropper concluded by saying: "But you know, we have some ideas about where it goes. We just have to wait and see if Amazon wants another one." Especially if The Wrecking Crew's streaming success endures in the weeks to come (it was only released on January 28), Amazon would likely pursue a continuation, fleshing out its own original action franchise that is guaranteed viewership every time.

Momoa, who was launched to fame by Game of Thrones, then subsequently landed his high-profile roles in Aquaman and Fast X, has multiple completed projects coming up. This includes Dune: Part Three, in which he reprises his role as Duncan Idaho. But he is doubtlessly an in-demand star and is attached to the delayed Fast 11 and confirmed Minecraft 2.

Meanwhile, Bautista, whose schedule Tropper cites as being more of an obstacle, is slated to star in Road House 2 and Henry Cavill's Highlander reboot. IMDb lists 11 supposedly upcoming projects for the Guardians of the Galaxy and the Glass Onion star, labeling them all as filming or in pre-production.

But Tropper still sounds optimistic that these stars will return; it might just take some time for schedules to free up. Fans of Momoa or Bautista have several more movies coming out to look forward to. So soon after its release, The Wrecking Crew is still proving exactly what kind of hit it is, but its reception so far does indicate that a sequel is in order.

The Wrecking Crew is available to stream on Prime Video.
