Warning: Contains SPOILERS for NYX #6

One of the X-Men's most terrifying villains, the master of multidimensional television called Mojo, has spent decades trying to forcefully conscript the X-Men into his trashy interdimensional shows, movies, and games. While he is often limited to his home dimension, Mojo’s new power threatens to turn all of Earth into his playground. However, Marvel's premiere group of young mutants doesn’t seem as concerned as they should be.

NYX #6 – written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly, with art by Michael Shelfer – follows Kamala Khan and her mutant-rights activist friends as they take a break to attend a Dazzler concert. Before the team has a chance to let loose, the concert is derailed by Local, a mutant technopath in service to “Mr. Friend,” Mojo’s puppet made from a mutant’s corpse.

As the mutants battle Local, Mojo assumes control of Local’s body, officially adding another puppet to his collection. It’s rare that Mojo slithers his way to Earth, but now he’s back with a sinister new plot and powerset.

NYX #6, Local becomes Mojo's next puppet

While Mojo is practically a god in his home dimension, the Mojoverse, his powers seem limited outside. He has shown some lethal control of the weather, but his true power lies in the power of ratings and popularity. However, this series is the first time Mojo’s puppeteering power has ever been seen. It’s already become clear in the NYX series that Mojo is attempting to build a collection of mutants. With every mutant under his control, he gains another ability to use as his own; if he were to collect the right powers, Earth would become his personal Mojoverse.

With enough technopaths and some leading-star actors, Mojo could control the world in a matter of minutes, leveraging every screen on the planet for his twisted content.

The X-franchise's Krakoan Era aproved the godlike capabilities that "mutant circuits" are capable of. With the right combination of powers, the dead can be reborn and the world can be reformed. As Mojo begins his mutant collection, his clear goal is to horde more technopaths. Views empower Mojo; the more attention he or his projects have, the stronger he becomes. Nearly every person on Earth has a screen next to them. With enough technopaths and some leading-star actors, Mojo could control the world in a matter of minutes, leveraging every screen on the planet for his twisted content.

Mojo’s Powers Are No Longer Limited To The Mojoverse

While Mojo hasn’t confessed his evil plan quite yet, he has openly boasted about the scale of his next project. In NYX #2, Wolverine crosses paths with Mojo. The attention-fiend admitted to lacing mutants with an Essex Corporation growth hormone. Not only has Mojo’s new puppeteering power granted him a terrifying degree of leverage over Earth, but now he plans to amplify his inevitable mutant circuit, possibly expanding his coverage beyond the planet. You don’t need to like him or his content, all he needs is your attention. With a planet full of mutants to use, that won’t be hard.
