The Blood of Dawnwalker features several unique characters throughout the incredible and immersive dark fantasy world of Vale Sangora. And while Coen meets plenty of distinct NPCs throughout the journey, none are more noteworthy than Anca, who is one of Coen's main romantic interests if you choose the right dialogue options during her main quest.
!!! WARNING: THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS LIGHT STORY SPOILERS FOR THE BLOOD OF DAWNWALKER !!!You'll first meet Anca quite early in the game, and will have the opportunity to start flirting with her throughout each interaction. Players have the choice to pursue multiple romantic partners in The Blood of Dawnwalker simultaneously, with other options such as Lacra becoming available depending on your choices. These other romantic pursuits will not interfere with Coen's ability to romance Anca, so it's possible to acquire all romance options in a single playthrough.
Anca's Romance Happens After "Where Old Devils Lie"
Romancing Anca takes a little bit of patience and persistence on Coen's part, as she's quite resistant to becoming romantically entwined with someone 20 years younger than her. Further, her history in the convent has shaped her into a woman concerned with "decency" (her words, not mine), and as such, it will take more than a few dialogue instances for Coen to convince her it's a good idea.
The core romance dialogue options take place during Anca's quest, "Where Old Devils Lie," which you can embark on after following her questline up past the "Echoes of Silenced Bells," which takes you through the Convent portion and reveals multiple details about Anca's troubled past. There will be opportunities to "flirt" with Anca throughout the Convent quest, but the important dialogue choices occur while seeking out The Font in "Where Old Devils Lie."
During this quest, before entering the ruins to start seeking out The Font proper, Coen will have an opportunity to confess his love to Anca, which will result in Anca pushing off the conversation for later. Continue following this quest until you begin the trials in the "Stronger Than Achilles" quest, which will eventually take you to the chamber with The Font. You can choose any of the three main options here (use it yourself, let Anca use it, or destroy The Font altogether) without it affecting your romance with Anca.
How To Romance Anca In The Blood Of Dawnwalker

Once you complete "Stronger Than Achilles," you'll return to the inn for a debrief, and you will then have the opportunity to pick up on the unfinished conversation from earlier. Anca will be dismissive at first, but if you choose either the "beg to differ" or "meant what I said" dialogue options and do not select the "friend" options at any point, Anca will eventually kiss Coen before things get hot and heavy.
The ensuing X-rated sex scene shows Coen and Anca baring it all in the inn under candlelight (though it is a bit strange that Coen never takes off his underpants, at least in the pre-launch version that I played). Afterward, Coen will press Anca for an answer to whether she loves him back, but ultimately she ends up turning him down, no matter your dialogue choices.
What Happens If You Romance Anca?
While romancing Anca does not unlock any unique buffs, bonuses, or special gear, you will have a new dialogue option when returning to her later that lets Coen say that he misses her and leading to a conversation about repeating the encounter, though you won't be able to romance her again. Even in The Blood of Dawnwalker epilogue, you'll have the chance to flirt with her again, but there are no additional romance scenes beyond the initial one at the inn. Ultimately, Anca is not interested in pursuing a future with Coen, regardless of his feelings toward her.
