Power Rangers has officially unveiled the Phantom Ranger’s new design ahead of the character’s franchise return, and the first look has already earned our stamp of approval. The Phantom Ranger will reunite with T.J. Johnson, the Red Turbo Ranger, making this feel like a true comeback after his last appearance in anything Turbo Ranger-related.

The Phantom Ranger debuted in the television series Power Rangers Turbo and remains one of the franchise's most mysterious Rangers, with his real identity never revealed in the TV continuity. Recognizable by his male silhouette and distinctive black-and-silver armor, he is often considered the unofficial sixth member of the Turbo Rangers, having served as an ally despite largely operating independently.

The Phantom Ranger notably returned in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always (2023), marking his first live-action appearance since Power Rangers in Space (1998). However, fans have continued to see the Ranger pop up in various comic series over the years, and now we have confirmation of his latest stint in the comics, along with a first look at his design for his debut in Power Rangers Unlimited.

Boom! Studios has officially dropped its December solicitations, which include a first look at the upcoming Power Rangers Unlimited #6. Brought to life by the creative team of writers Kenny Porter and Joey Esposito, alongside artist Alessio Zonno, the issue is set to release on December 16, 2026, and will be available to read for $4.99. Readers can find the official synopsis below:

The machine empire rises! The Zeo Rangers defeated the Machine Empire years ago, but their factories are mysteriously operational once again, building soldiers and weapons for the seemingly unstoppable Turbo Black Ranger!

When the Unlimited Team answers a distress call from the legendary Phantom Ranger, Trini and Minh cut their reunion short to bring a death blow to the Machine Empire’s operations.

Follow along as the Rangers embark on this new mission of creepy industrial espionage with danger around every corner…including an explosive villain you know and love, and the discovery of an ancient warrior who’s been corrupted by Turbo Black’s power.

If you haven’t been following Boom’s Power Rangers Unlimited series, the main thing to know is that it brings Rangers from every season and series of the long-running television and comic franchise together in one ongoing narrative. Power Rangers Unlimited #5 confirmed the return of T.J. Johnson, the Red Turbo Ranger, and based on the cover art for issue #6, it seems the Red Turbo Ranger and Phantom Ranger are set to meet again.

Alessio Zonno’s main cover for Power Rangers Unlimited #6 depicts the newly debuted Striking Tiger Unlimited Ranger, the Red Turbo Ranger, and the Phantom Ranger all fighting alongside each other, which all but guarantees a reunion between T.J. Johnson and the Phantom Ranger. The main cover, along with several of the variant covers, also gives us our first look at the Phantom Ranger's design for the series. Longtime fans will be pleased to see the series appears to stay true to the Ranger’s classic design.

Like his appearance in Power Rangers Turbo, the main cover depicts him in his instantly recognizable, sleek black-and-silver armored suit, complete with bulky shoulder armor, a distinctive helmet, and a harness-like chest piece. While his design could theoretically be different within the actual narrative, that seems unlikely given that cover artist Alessio Zonno is also the lead artist on the series. Hence, it’s safe to say that this is the look fans should expect in the upcoming Power Rangers Unlimited series.

Power Rangers Unlimited #6 from Boom! Studios will be available to read on December 16, 2026!
