The new trailer for 9-1-1 season 10 reveals a shocking volcanic eruption that puts everyone in danger, including Athena Grant, who's gone missing.

The Ryan Murphy-created procedural and its spinoffs have put its characters up against numerous obstacles and dangerous conditions over the years, including an earthquake, a tsunami, a cyberattack, a bee-nado, a capsized cruise ship, a tornado and an asteroid. Not everyone has made it out alive, though. After an explosion at a biolab, 9-1-1's Bobby sacrificed himself to save Chimney.

Bobby's death meant Athena lost her husband, and the detective herself has been in severe danger many times, including in the upcoming 10th season of 9-1-1, which premieres on October 15. ABC shared the official trailer for the new season, which teases a volcanic eruption in Los Angeles, with the entire city once again facing a possibly fatal catastrophe.

Check out the trailer below:

The 9-1-1 season 10 trailer begins with Athena, flashlight in hand, calling out to someone in danger. As she makes her way to the civilian, the ground starts shaking and an explosion breaks open above ground.

Station 118 springs into action to save the city once again, with the damaged road overturning cars and sightseeing buses, and knocking over utility poles.

At the 911 dispatch center, Maddie Buckley answers a call, with a scared woman on the other end of the line explaining that she's inside her car and trapped in a river of lava, which quickly covers the road and traps all vehicles in its path.

A wide shot of the city reveals that an erupting volcano has sprung up out of the ground amid buildings and skyscrapers. Hen tells her team to get in there and "try not to get Pompeii'd," referring to the infamous volcanic eruption in the Italian city in 79 AD.

Every firehouse has been sent out to deal with the damage caused by the eruption without deserting the rest of the city, but according to Maddie, Los Angeles "has no protocol for a volcano."

Chimney compares the situation to the kids' game The Floor is Lava, except in this case, the floor really is lava. He and his fellow firefighters continue saving people, but one person, who's been standing on top of a gas station sign, falls over and gets consumed by the lava.

Ever since the explosion, Athena has been missing. Her daughter, May, explains on the phone that she's been trying to reach her mom, who "crawled through some hole underground." LAFD heads underground to find Athena, with her son, Harry, yelling, "Mom, are you in there?" The trailer ends with May breaking down crying, and Buck calling out for any survivors.

9-1-1 stars Angela Bassett, Oliver Stark, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ryan Guzman, Corinne Massiah, Elijah M. Cooper and Gavin McHugh.

The last time they were seen on screen, during the 9-1-1 season 9 finale, Athena was taken to the hospital after being shot by Detective Hooks. While there, Buck was stabbed, but his team showed up in time to save his life.

The 118 has been through so much over the past nine seasons of 9-1-1, and if this new trailer is any indication, then they won't have much time to rest and recuperate now that lava from a volcanic eruption is taking over Los Angeles.

9-1-1 season 10 premieres Thursday, October 15 at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC and the next day on Hulu.
