There's too much stuff for a puny 20-item chest!

In Pokémon Pokopia, you'll collect tons of items, so you need to set up storage pretty early on to hold on to all of your belongings. After all, there's no need to carry around all those furniture pieces and collectibles.

You'll get set up pretty early on with a basic storage chest, but it unfortunately only holds 20 items. Don't worry though, as you can get an upgrade pretty soon after, depending on how hard you're going in the game.

Below we explain how to get better storage options in Pokémon Pokopia.

How to unlock the big storage box in Pokopia

After registering 30 Pokémon in your Pokédex, you'll get a notification that you have unlocked the recipe for the big storage box, which holds a whopping 60 items. This will also complete the "Find new Pokémon! #5" challenge.

If you're having trouble recruiting Pokémon, don't forget that habitats made for Pokémon are reusable (if multiple Pokémon can come from one habitat). You can move a Pokémon into a house, and then a new Pokémon will show up in their old habitat. This helps avoid too much clutter (which can be a little overwhelming early on), while also allowing a good rotation of new Pokémon into your areas.

You can craft a big storage box using three Pokémetal, thus making them a pretty high-cost early-game resource. Early on, you can find Pokémetal from some golden Poké Balls on the floor, as well as your daily shop (both in the PC and in the Pokémon Center), if you're lucky. You'll have the ability to get lots of Pokémetal later on, so don't worry too much about this being a super-scarce resource.

There are other storage options that are mostly decorative, like the wall storage box (a kitchen cabinet-esque item) and the office cabinet, but these only hold 20 items, so they won't hold as many items. Even refrigerators can hold items, though again, they only hold 20, not 60.
