Using the best builds for The Herta in Honkai: Star Rail is the ideal way of taking full advantage of the character’s potential as a heavily aggressive main DPS in team comps. The Herta is a 5-star Ice character on the Path of the Erudition. Like her 4-star puppet version, The Herta’s specialty is striking multiple opponents at once. Different from the puppet form, however, The Herta’s gameplay kit in Honkai: Star Rail has a unique structure that allows her to inflict stacks of Interpretation on enemies as they get hit. These stacks make opponents sustain more damage.
Allies that hit targets can help build up stacks of Interpretation and, furthermore, The Herta can even organize the stacks, gathering most of them on a single opponent, which makes her effective as both a multi-target striker and a single-target attacker. This mechanic effectively allows her to take on mobs of enemies and tougher opponents like bosses. The character can be a valuable DPS for a variety of activities, but you must ensure you build her correctly after you gather all The Herta’s materials in Honkai: Star Rail and take her to the maximum level.
Best Light Cones For The Herta
There Are Several Options To Choose From
To start working on her, you’ll first need to find a good Light Cone. The best Light Cone for The Herta is Into the Unreachable Veil. The 5-star signature Light Cone increases the user’s CRIT Rate by 12% and when they use their Ultimate, the DMG dealt by their Skill and Ultimate is increased by 60% for three turns. After the Ultimate is used, if it consumed 140 or more Energy, the user recovers one Skill Point. This plays right into The Herta’s kit, who activates her Enhanced Skill after using her Ultimate. The offensive bonuses are valuable to her.

If you don’t have access to her signature weapon, Night on the Milky Way is a great 5-star substitute Light Cone for The Herta. The item increases the user’s ATK by 9% for each enemy on the field up to five stacks. When an enemy sustains Weakness Break, the DMG dealt by the user increases by 30% for one turn. This has been a fantastic weapon since the game’s release, but it also depends a lot on facing multiple enemies at once. As such, its performance will peak when challenging activities like Pure Fiction in Honkai: Star Rail.
You may notice Night on the Milky Way falters a bit when facing fewer enemies at once.
Eternal Calculus is the F2P 5-star alternative Light Cone for any Erudition character, including The Herta. This weapon increases the user’s ATK by 8% and after using an attack, for each enemy target hit, ATK is increased an extra 4%, an effect that can stack up to five times and last until the next attack. If three or more enemy targets are hit, the user’s SPD increases by 8% for one turn. This Light Cone offers somewhat generic bonuses, but they are still beneficial to The Herta if her other recommended Light Cones in Honkai: Star Rail are unavailable.
If you lack access to any of these weapons – though Eternal Calculus is free and can be obtained from Herta’s Store in the Simulated Universe – you should look at 4-star alternatives. The best 4-star Light Cone for The Herta is called Today Is Another Peaceful Day. After entering battle, this item increases the user’s DMG based on their Max Energy. The DMG is increased by 0.2% per Energy point, up to 160 Energy. This is fitting since the Max Energy of The Herta in Honkai: Star Rail, according to Honey Hunter World, is 220 Points.

A classic character from Honkai: Star Rail may get a brand-new form in Version 3.X patches, shedding hope for other outdated and powercrept units.
Another 4-star Light Cone alternative for The Herta is Geniuses’ Repose. This item increases the user’s ATK by 16% and when they defeat an enemy, their CRIT DMG increases by 24% for three turns. Overall, when scouting for Light Cones to equip on The Herta, look for items that grant offensive bonuses like ATK and CRIT, while also seeing if it plays into The Herta’s gameplay kit.
Best Relics, Ornaments, & Stats For The Herta
Treat The Character As A Main DPS
Aside from the Light Cone, you’ll also need to equip The Herta with Relics and Ornaments. Currently, the best Relic set for The Herta is Scholar Lost in Erudition. The set’s two-piece bonus increases her CRIT Rate by 8%, while the four-piece bonus increases the DMG dealt by Ultimate and Skill by 20%. Furthermore, after using Ultimate, the DMG dealt by the next Skill is boosted an extra 25%, playing right into The Herta’s rotation on the field. She could also use Hunter of Glacial Forest, but it pales in comparison to Scholar Lost in Erudition in Honkai: Star Rail.

10 Best Sustain Characters In Honkai: Star Rail Going Into 3.0, Ranked
The sustain role is crucial to conquering the hardest endgame modes of Honkai: Star Rail and these top units can make the game much easier.
The best Ornament set for The Herta is called Izumo Gensei and Takama Divine Realm. The set increases the user’s ATK by 12% and upon entering battle, if at least one other ally follows the same Path as the user, the user’s CRIT Rate increases by 12%. Because The Herta has more than one passive ability that requires at least one other Erudition character on the team to trigger bonuses, you should always run an extra Erudition character in Honkai: Star Rail with The Herta, thus ensuring that the extra effects provided by this Ornament set will always be triggered.
You could also use the Rutilant Arena Ornaments with The Herta, but Izumo Gensei and Takama Divine Realm are much better because they don’t require you to reach 70% CRIT Rate.
When farming the Relics and Ornaments for The Herta, prioritize obtaining a high and healthy distribution of CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG as well as ATK. Other important stats to consider for the character are SPD and Ice DMG, all of which should help boost her presence on the field. Some Energy Regeneration Rate could be a sub-stat, as it could help fuel her Ultimate’s high Energy cost in Honkai: Star Rail.
Best Team Comps For The Herta
The Herta is somewhat dependent on her team comp since they will help build up Interpretation stacks on enemies. Furthermore, she also needs at least one extra Erudition character to accompany her so as to trigger some of her passives. Running The Herta alongside a character like Jade or Herta is great since they operate as sub-DPS units. In a premium team, if you can use either Lingsha or Aventurine in Honkai: Star Rail, you can ensure they help build up Interpretation stacks with their follow-up attacks, too.
The table below lists some team comp suggestions for The Herta:
Premium Team |
|
Budget-Friendly (F2P) Team Comp |
|
In a F2P team comp, Herta is nearly indispensable since she is the only worthwhile Erudition character – and her follow-up attacks can significantly help The Herta’s build-up. Additionally, The Herta and the Remembrance Trailblazer make for an amazing pair; The Herta helps Mem gain charge with the main character’s E2, which can then accelerate the process in which the memosprite blesses The Herta, enabling her to deal True DMG. This is on top of Mem’s automatic CRIT DMG bonus to allies. Combined with 4-star Herta in Honkai: Star Rail, players could make for a very solid F2P team comp.
Skill (Trace) Priority For The Herta
The Character’s Skill & Ultimate Need To Be Leveled Simultaneously
Lastly, when you are leveling up The Herta’s abilities, you may be forced to make difficult decisions due to the scarcity of materials. Prioritize leveling up The Herta’s Skill and Ultimate simultaneously, followed by her Talent. The last priority among her main abilities is Basic Attack, which will hardly ever be used in combat under normal circumstances.

The upcoming character Mydei has had his gameplay kit leaked in Honkai: Star Rail and it seems he will be a necessary DPS unit for all players.
The Herta has a very straightforward and traditional build as a main DPS character. There are also plenty of good alternatives for most portions of her build if the strongest items or characters are not available. Consider her your strongest unit in the team comp and give her the proper tools to work with and The Herta’s gameplay kit in Honkai: Star Rail should do the rest.
