Fans of DC Comics' newest Batman can rest easy because he's not going anywhere anytime soon. Readers everywhere have been captivated by Absolute Batman and, according to writer Scott Snyder, they can expect a lot more of the oversized hero. That is, as long as fans are there to support the series.
Scott Snyder spoke with Screen Rant to discuss Absolute Batman #4 and touched on what fans of the Absolute Universe could expect in the coming months. Snyder revealed that the current arc, "The Zoo" was just the first part of what he considered Absolute Batman's first 'season'.
Scott Snyder: In terms of the Absolute line itself, just so I'm clear, the first season of the book, to me, is the first three arcs, and the first three arcs are five to six issues a piece, plus there's little interstitial issues in between the arcs to give Nick room to get ahead. So you're talking about 18 to 20 issues, so almost two years really, just to do the first season of the book. And we're planning on doing more than one season, so there's no going anywhere. As long as you guys pick it up, we'll keep making it, because we love working on it.
According to Snyder, the season will be three arcs comprising about 18 to 20 issues, giving fans at least two years worth of content. The writer also mentioned that he has additional seasons planned for Absolute Batman, but that it depended on fans continuing to buy the series as it comes out.
Absolute Batman Could Last Two Years and Beyond

After months of teasing, the Absolute Universe finally debuted in the DC All In Special. Darkseid's physical body died and released a massive wave of energy, most of which broke through the multiverse and settled on an impressionable Earth. This world became known as the Absolute Universe, a world where hope was fleeting, and every hero was at a bigger disadvantage than ever. This world still had a Batman, but one who grew up with modest means. But despite not having a family fortune, the Absolute Batman has used everything at his disposal to make a serious impact on Gotham.
It's not a surprise to hear that Snyder has such big plans for Absolute Batman's future. When DC All In was being promoted, Snyder discussed how the initiative was mapped out for at least two years. That said, it is a surprise to hear that the writer has plans well beyond those two years, depending on how many more seasons he has planned out. Even if it's just two or three more seasons, by Snyder's approximation, that could mean Absolute Batman could last up to eight years, possibly even more if fans continue to financially support the ongoing series.

Creators can have all the passion in the world for their titles, but at the end of the day, it's up to readers to prove that the demand is there. So far, Absolute Batman has nothing to worry about as its debut issue was the best-selling comic of 2024. But what will keep it around is monthly support, either purchasing physical issues, digital copies, or trades when they become available. Snyder has made it clear he's got an epic in mind for Absolute Batman, but it's up to fans to prove that there's a market that wants to see it.
