Honkai Star Rail 4.2 Livestream: Date & Time, New Characters & Banners, Updates & More

The Honkai: Star Rail 4.2 livestream will soon happen, revealing all the details about the new playable characters being added to the roster, the banner structure for the period, the anticipated anniversary rewards, and much more, such as the story updates and events. HoYoverse’s turn-based RPG is currently near the end of Version 4.1, a much shorter patch in comparison to the regular format. The release of Honkai: Star Rail 4.1 happened nearly two weeks ago.

While the majority of updates tend to last six weeks, HoYoverse had already announced that the current patch would only last four weeks. This is a much shorter patch, as the company focuses its development efforts on Version 4.2. Even so, players got access to Ashveil in Honkai: Star Rail 4.1, a new Lightning Hunt DPS unit who can work with several different characters. There are, however, reasons to be even more excited for the upcoming patch than the content that is currently being offered.

The Special Event Will Happen Soon

Even though it would have been possible to predict when the livestream for the upcoming patch would occur based on HoYoverse’s regular behavior for every update, the company has already confirmed when the special event will happen. According to a post on the official Honkai: Star Rail account on X, the Version 4.2 livestream will happen on April 10, at 7:30 am ET.

This Special Program will be one of the largest ones this year, following the release of Version 4.0. The livestream will be presented by the developers at HoYoverse rather than the voice actors for characters, as was teased by the post. This is because the Version 4.2 livestream will go over all the plans to celebrate the turn-based RPGs, including their rewards, which will likely include free Stellar Jade in Honkai: Star Rail, as well as a potential new free character to grab.

Silver Wolf SP & Evanescia Debut During The Update

HoYoverse has already confirmed the new playable characters that will make their debut in Version 4.2, and the livestream will serve as a stage to further detail them and their abilities. The first character that was teased was Silver Wolf LV. 999, a new version of the well-known Stellaron Hunter. This Secondary Path for the Honkai: Star Rail character will see her now use Imaginary DMG in combat while following the Path of the Elation.

As seen in her leaked kit on Reddit, Silver Wolf LV.999 will be a 5-star Elation DPS that will feature a few gacha-like mechanics. Her Skill, for example, can deal damage, recover Skill Points, or generate Punchlines. Silver Wolf LV.999 can also allegedly bring forth a summon that helps her and the team in combat. The character may work well with Yao Guang in Honkai: Star Rail.

The other confirmed character is Evanescia, who has long been awaited by fans of the larger Honkai universe. Evanescia is a 5-star Physical character following the Path of the Elation, as was confirmed by HoYoverse. The Yae Sakura expy in Honkai: Star Rail is also expected to be a main DPS, according to the leaks about her kit on Gachabase.

Evanescia is said to have high damage modifiers, as well as follow-up attacks. Of course, the new character can also deal Elation DMG to enemies, further increasing her participation as a damage-dealer in the party. Like Silver Wolf LV.999, it’s expected that Evanescia will work well with Yao Guang. There have also been tests that run her alongside the buffed version of Welt in Honkai: Star Rail.

HoYoverse has also confirmed that Welt, Seele, Huohuo, and Firefly are getting Novaflare buffs in Version 4.2. So far, the company hasn’t revealed what will be enhanced in each character kit, but this will likely be presented during the Version 4.2 livestream.

In addition to the new characters and the buffs to older characters in Honkai: Star Rail, the upcoming patch will also have rerun banners. So far, there haven’t been leaks teasing which new characters players may expect to see during the update, and it’s fairly difficult to predict what HoYoverse will do. Even so, it’s certain that the Version 4.2 Special Event will also highlight all the rerun characters.

The Update Will Expand On Planarcadia’s Phantasmoon Games

In addition to the exciting new character options and the revitalized form of older ones, there will be a lot to play through in Version 4.2, as this is expected to be a massive update for the RPG. As was mentioned, this is an anniversary patch, which is often the second-largest type of patch every year. In terms of story updates, we may be able to learn more about the Phantasmoon Games and the powers granted by AHA following the revelations involving Himeko in Honkai: Star Rail 4.1.

There will also be a ton of events to help keep players hooked during the period, including what will likely be a few distribution events. Every anniversary patch, HoYoverse gets very generous and tends to offer around 20 free pulls. The company also tends to give away at least one free character with these updates.
