Ewan is Deputy Editor for ScreenRant's gaming section. He still quite hasn’t gotten out of his mid 00’s emo phase, and knows more about The Legend of Zelda and Doctor Who than is probably healthy.
Ewan oversees the content operation of ScreenRant's gaming output, working with a talented team of writers and editors to cover everything from the latest GTA 6 news to the indie games you need on your radar.
Former Editor of GAMINGbible, Ewan also has words at Kotaku, Den of Geek, NME, and UNILAD. He's appeared on various podcasts, including VGC's and BBC's Let's Talk About Tech.
Now that we're nearly three years on from launch, I think it's probably fair to say Hogwarts Legacy isn't quite the Harry Potter RPG fans were hoping for. That's not to say it wasn't capable of delivering moments of magic for fans of the series, but as far as RPGs go? It was pretty shallow fare, all things considered.
While the last official expansion for Hogwarts Legacy was reportedly shelved, there are still loads of new reasons to jump back into the game and get a little more out of the experience. Hogwarts Legacy: Dungeon Of Doom, for instance, is one popular expansion that was made by fans, for fans.
Hogwarts Legacy: Dungeon Of Doom Is A Top Mod
Download it now
For those who might not know, Warner Bros. and Avalanche Software worked to enable official modding support for Hogwarts Legacy last year. While the game hasn't exactly reached the same level of modding fervor as a game like Skyrim or The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the official support means Hogwarts Legacy has been getting a steady trickle of new content for the last year or so.
Because this is a mod, it's only currently available to PC gamers with a copy of Hogwarts Legacy. It's unlikely console versions of the game will ever receive mod support. Not impossible, though.
Players can download things like new cosmetics, new mounts (like an actual dragon), and even new gameplay features. The most interesting of these mods, however, are the ones that let you explore entirely new areas. And Dungeon Of Doom stands as the absolute best of the bunch.
Created by InfinitumEntLLC over on Curseforge, Dungeon Of Doom is pretty much what it sounds like... a brand-new dungeon to explore. One filled with what some may describe as "doom".
Below is the mod's appropriately unhinged teaser:
"Enter if you dare; Around every corner is a fresh new scare! Can you find the exit & escape by a hair? Let's find out, I'll see you there! Once you escape, come back again; Three Secret Arenas await your return, dear friend. Hidden Buttons & Blasted Rocks, Will lead you to riches, or toasted socks! I'm going to sing The Doom Song now, Doom doom doom doom doomy doom doom…"
Dungeon Of Doom Is A Real Challenge
The perfect test
If you're looking to test your skills, Dungeon Of Doom is a great way to do it. You can start the quest by finding the dungeon entrance, which is beyond the bridge and down the hill south of Hogsmeade. Just be aware that, since it's a fan-made creation, there are some bugs you might encounter.
Even so, if you're craving more Hogwarts Legacy and have the means to check this mod out, I'd definitely suggest you go for it and see if you can handle the... Dungeon Of DOooooooOOOoom.
