Henry Cavill's action thriller is clawing back into the spotlight on streaming – hunting down a little redemption.

The British actor is best known for his breakout role as Superman in the DCEU, starting with Man of Steel (2013) and continuing with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017). On television, he played Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher (2019–2023) for the first three seasons. Beyond the cape, Cavill's film career includes starring as Sherlock Holmes in Netflix's Enola Holmes movies (2020–present), as well as starring in the spy movies The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015), Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018), and Argylle (2024). However, his lesser-known action thriller is garnering renewed attention.

Henry Cavill's 10 Best Movies And TV Shows

From one of the biggest superheroes of all time to going head-to-head with Tom Cruise, Henry Cavill's best movies and TV shows highlight his talents.

Eight years after its theatrical release, Night Hunter (originally titled Nomis) has found redemption on streaming. Written and directed by David Raymond, the 2018 action thriller stars Henry Cavill as a police detective who crosses paths with a committed and tireless vigilante as he gets caught up in the trail of a ruthless predator responsible for several abductions and murders.

Now, following its theatrical release in 2018, Night Hunter is No. 2 on the Top 10 movies on Starz for today, April 21. It ranks below The Housemaid at No. 1, Now You See Me: Now You Don't, Marshall, Turbulence, Gemini Man, The Man in the White Van, Superfly, The Girl on the Train, and The Informer at No. 10.

In addition to Henry Cavill in the lead role, Night Hunter's surprisingly star-studded cast also includes Oscar winner Ben Kingsley (Gandhi), Emmy nominee Alexandra Daddario (The White Lotus season 1), Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci (The Lovely Bones), Brendan Fletcher, Minka Kelly, Nathan Fillion, Mpho Koaho, Emma Tremblay, Eliana Jones, Daniela Lavender, Beverly Noukwu, Dylan Penn, and Carlyn Burchell.

Night Hunter was hated by critics, evidenced by its dismal 14% Rotten Tomatoes score, who call it contrived and clichéd, squandering a strong cast on an action-thriller that never really comes together. Audiences were split down the middle, making for a 50% audience score.

The Henry Cavill movie made only $1 million at the box office, but it does have a history of streaming success. In September 2025, it ranked No. 3 on the Top 10 movies in the world on Paramount+, and the following November, it was back on the chart in the same spot. Now, Night Hunter is continuing its streaming success on Starz.
