Halle Berry renews desire to act opposite Zendaya after Euphoria star honored her with 2026 Emmys look

Halle Berry reiterated her desire to work onscreen with Zendaya on Tuesday after the Euphoria actress paid tribute to her at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards the night before.

Zendaya, 30, hit the red carpet in Los Angeles with a silver Prada dress featuring a plunging neckline that recalled the outfit Berry wore to the 2002 Los Angeles premiere of her Bond film Die Another Day.

The Spider-Man actress even went so far as to style her hair in a pixie cut that resembled Berry's most iconic hairdo.

After raving about the look on the night of the ceremony, Berry took to her Instagram Stories on Tuesday to re-share a clip of her appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show in February in which she raved about Zendaya and revealed that she hoped to act with her one day.

'There is an actress that I love with every fiber of my being. I love her,' the 60-year-old Oscar winner said as she was overcome by emotion in the video, which was originally posted by Zendaya's stylist, Law Roach, 48.

'And I would love to play her mother,' she continued, before taking a lengthy pause and saying it was Zendaya, to thunderous applause from the audience. 'I can play her mom, right?'

Roach's original post then featured video of Zendaya walking the red carpet in her stunning silver Prada dress with a plunging neckline.

Roach was clearly a fan of Berry's idea to play Zendaya's mother, as he wrote 'Definitely' and added a red heart to the red-carpet footage.

And the Monster's Ball actress reiterated that she was still interested when she added to her repost: 'I mean . . . @luxurylaw.'

Berry went on to showcase Zendaya's beauty and stunning ensemble with more reposts of the younger star posing on the red carpet at the Emmys. 

The night before, Berry made it clear that she approved of Zendaya's copycat look when she took to X to share heart-eye emojis at one fan's comparison of the new outfit with her 2002 ensemble. 

While over on Instagram, Halle quipped that Zendaya 'murdered the night' when commenting on the Euphoria star's stylist Law Roach's commentary.

Roach, who has been nailing Zendaya's looks over the last year amid her promotional trails for Spider-Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey, said of Zendaya's Emmys look: 'We are paying a little homage to Halle Berry tonight, you'll see it.'

Zendaya dazzled on the carpet in her embellished silver gown, which she accessorized with a silver watch and, of course, her wedding ring. 

Though she posed solo on the red carpet, her husband Tom Holland, 30, later joined her inside, where the glowing newlyweds proudly flashed their wedding rings.

The actress, who served as one of the evening's star presenters, was up for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her acclaimed role as Rue Bennett in Euphoria, but she lost to Pluribus star Rhea Seehorn.

The Emmys saw Law & Order: SVU executive producer/star Mariska Hargitay serve as host of the gala event, which marks the first time a woman has hosted the show in 15 years.

Nominations for television's biggest night were announced back in July, as Euphoria's Sydney Sweeney, The Bear's Jeremy Allen White and Stranger Things as a whole were among the most shocking snubs. 

Apple TV horror comedy series Widow's Bay was the biggest winner at the Emmy Awards 2026 as it swept the ceremony, with leading man Matthew Rhys making history as the first actor to win two leading acting gongs in different categories in one night.

On the drama side, it was once again The Pitt that was the big winner, as the HBO Max series took home top honors of Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama for Noah Wyle. They earned the same honors at last year's Emmys.

However, it was Widow's Bay that made the massive first impression on television's biggest night, as it won in all six categories it was nominated in, including the top honor Outstanding Comedy Series.

In addition to Rhys, top acting honors were earned by Kate O'Flynn and Stephen Root in the Outstanding Supporting Actress and Actor in a Comedy Series categories, respectively. 

However, their costar Rhys was perhaps the biggest winner of the night as he made history by becoming the first actor to earn two leading acting honors in the same night.

He not only earned Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy series for the Apple TV series, but also took home Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for The Beast in Me earlier in the evening. 

The Pitt earned the top award of the night, Outstanding Drama Series, on a night where it earned 25 nominations, which was the most for any single series. 

Wyle earned the win in the coveted Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series category as he beat out Sterling K Brown for Paradise, Gary Oldman for Slow Horses, Mark Ruffalo for Task and Rufus Sewell for The Diplomat.

Jean Smart earned her fifth Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy win in a row at the Emmy Awards 2026 on a night that featured a star-studded red carpet. 

Sally Field earned Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for her work in Remarkably Bright Creatures.
