Gwyneth Paltrow follows in pal Jennifer Aniston's footsteps as she embraces kooky numerology in a bid to help her come to terms with a 'painful year of goodbyes'

She is as well known for her New Age trends, as she is for her on-screen acting.

So it is little wonder that Gwyneth Paltrow’s latest fad is a bit kooky.

The Hollywood actress has become an advocate of numerology, the ancient study of numbers and their supposed energetic influence in your life.

Ms Paltrow, 52, said she underwent a numerology reading which helped her deal with the death of her dog Nero and her children moving out.

The practice involves using a person’s birth date to calculate a ‘life path number’ and determining your ‘destiny number’ by using your full name.

The star said the bizarre technique, which was bought by a friend, led her to discover that 2024 had been a ‘year of goodbyes’ and helped the ‘contextualise’ emotional events.

Writing for Goop, her own health and wellness brand, she said: ‘One of our dogs died, my kids went to school, and I became an empty nester. I had a bunch of goodbyes this year.’

‘The numerologist contextualized all of this for me, but this year was about learning to understand that it was a year of endings. And that sometimes those endings have been really painful and have come with big change and recalibrations.

‘I’ve learned to loosen my grip on things and deeply learn to let go. And also to understand that everything is always happening for your highest good, even if it’s super uncomfortable.’

Ms Paltrow has been married to TV director Brad Falchuk, 53, in 2018.

She was previously married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin from 2003 until she announced they were 'conscious uncoupling’ in 2016. They shared a daughter Apple, 20, and son Moses, 18.

She also included a collection of photographs of the things she had ‘let go of’, which included 'the phase of life where everyone is always under one roof’ alongside a picture of her with her children.

Also listed were 'our home', 'some very cherished colleagues', 'a dog', and 'Los Angeles’ and 'some people who were not right for me'.

Ms Paltrow is not the only celebrity to have shown an interest in the practice.

Friends actress Jennifer Aniston has been seen sporting a ‘11:11’ tattoo on her wrist, which is said represent a moment of alignment with the universe.

While the late One Direction singer Liam Payne included 444 in an emotional letter to his girlfriend Kate Cassidy, which is considered an angel number signifying protection in numerology.

It comes after Gwyneth shared an ambiguous message about letting go of 'people who were not right for me' on Sunday.

While taking inventory of her year, she told her 8.7 million Instagram followers what she's discarded in the past 12 months.

Her carousel post began with a clip of the blonde siren strutting outdoors in a navy blue mini dress.

Written across the snippet was the title, 'This year I have let go of...' in large white font. First she shared a snapshot with her kids, while sharing that she's passed 'the phase of life where everyone is always under one roof.'

Also listed under the 'letting go' umbrella were 'our home,' 'some very cherished colleagues,' 'a dog,' and 'Los Angeles.'

Over a seconds-long clip of the sky and clouds Paltrow wrote that she has also let go of 'some people who were not right for me' without adding additional context.

Gwyneth also said goodbye to 'the idea that [she] can correct misconceptions.'

And she added that she is 'still working on' eliminating 'self-limiting beliefs' as 2024 comes to a close.

The mother-of-two also made a list of what she wants her forthcoming year to look like as she included a second roundup titled 'In 2025 I would like to...'

Among her goals is to 'index freedom and expansion,' 'feet better,' 'crush it at work,' and 'continue to be able to have the tough conversations.'

After listing her hopes to keep succeeding in her job, the Iron Man actress noted about her wellness brand, '2024 was our best year ever, and so much more to come.'
