GTA 6 Price Appears Online Ahead Of Official Announcement

The upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto 6 is likely to be the biggest in the history of video games, with millions of players waiting to see what Rockstar has been cooking up over all these years. As such, there's a lot of speculation about exactly what that launch is going to look like when it does arrive in November.

The developer has remained predictably tight-lipped on almost everything, and we know very little about what's going to be in the game, aside from a few tidbits about the main cast of characters.

At the same time, we don't really know anything about the economics of GTA 6, and the price of what will presumably be various editions. Now, a price has appeared on a notable online storefront, and it's a fair bit higher than fans were hoping.

Over on Reddit, one user shared a screenshot from the popular online storefront Loaded (formerly CDKeys), where they have set the price of the base game at £89.99. Interestingly, on the US version of the site, the game is listed for a staggering $124.19, though it's unable to be purchased in both cases.

This is also for a digital version of the game, rather than a physical copy, with Loaded usually functioning as a key seller for the various gaming platforms.

Many of the comments underneath were quite worried about what that price would mean for games generally, with one saying, "I know most of us will pay for it but you guys know how much damage the gaming industry will have if we normalized this?"

"I mean if this happens people need to not defend that and do what they did when Outer Worlds 2 was priced at $80," another added.

GTA 6 Fans Relax, This Is Probably Just A Placeholder

For those of you who are tempted to hit the panic button, the chances are that the prices listed are very much meant to be a placeholder for the time being.

The most likely sources for price leaks will be the biggest stores, either the proprietary digital fronts for Xbox and PlayStation or somewhere like Amazon, as Rockstar will certainly give them the pricing information ahead of time.

With the twice-delayed release date still set for November, we will likely get some news on Rockstar's release plans for GTA 6 before long, including further details on the various editions available and how they will be priced.
