Things have been very quiet on the Grand Theft Auto VI front for a long while, but with the currently scheduled November release date edging closer, it seems like there might finally be some movement around the game. The Take-Two Interactive earnings call is in a few days, and if no delay is confirmed there, then pre-orders and a new trailer should be coming very soon.
At the same time, stores seemingly know something we don't, and they have really started dialing up their marketing for the game ahead of its purported arrival. Now, one store has gone a step further and actually opened the game up to buy, and at a much lower price than many might have expected.
Over on Reddit, one user shared a link from the Italian store Showgame has uploaded a huge store page for the game with a bunch of details, and a very reasonable price of €69.90, minus shipping. That comes after a photo of Elgiganten, a Scandinvian store similar to Best Buy, was uploaded, with a poster confirming pre-orders for the game.
Interestingly, the Showgame pricing is very much an attempt from the store to generate some additional hype for their sales, and reward some speedy players. On the listing page, they have confirmed only 50 copies have been made available for pre-order, likely turning this into more of a competition, rather than an actual guide on what official pre-orders are going to look like.
That said, it's a very solid sign that those working at the top of the retail industry are aware that GTA VI is still planning to release in November, whilst at the same time acting as a great way for players in Italy to pick up the game at a very reasonable price.
This is the first time we have seen these kinds of movements from retailers across the world, and you would be well within your rights to start getting excited now. As mentioned earlier, that pesky earnings call is our last real make-or-break moment, so let's just hope we can get through it without incident.
If GTA VI does start selling soon, and releases in May, we then just have to hope that the final product is as good, or better, as fans have been expecting it to be. Though it likely will be, the world where it doesn't hit the heady heights that fans are expecting could quickly become quite unpleasant to be in.
