Dragon Ball and DC are two titans of their respective industries, and a new crossover has seen two of the biggest names in anime and comics come together.

A new variant cover for Justice League Unlimited redesigns some of the most popular superheroes in a distinctly Dragon Ball style, and honestly, it couldn't look much better.

Dragon Ball and DC Are the Titans of Their Respective Industries

DC Comics' Absolute Batman and Dragon Ball Z's Super Saiyan Goku launch into battle together

When it comes to manga and comics, there really aren't many who can compete with Dragon Ball and DC. Dragon Ball is one of the longest-running manga series of all time, and even 40 years later, there's no end in sight for Goku and the rest of the Z Fighters.

Dragon Ball Super has brought Dragon Ball back in a major way. Goku and Vegeta are stronger than anyone could have ever imagined, Gohan has unlocked a new form that even the Gods themselves can barely understand, and Broly has been reintroduced to the franchise in the best way possible.

Even people who aren't the biggest fans of comics know DC. It's home to quite literally the most famous and influential superheroes in the world, including Superman, Batman, and so many more. American comics and Japanese manga don't usually come together, and that's just one of the reasons why this collaboration is so special.

The Redesigned Justice League Looks Awesome

DC Dragon Ball Green Lantern and Flash

The Flash and Green Lantern look amazing in a new variant cover for Justice League Unlimited #19 by Mario Foccillo. Foccillo has created stunning crossovers, and this one keeps that momentum going in style.

The Flash and Green Lantern look like they've been created by Akira Toriyama. The yellow and green hues surrounding The Flash and Green Lantern, respectively, are reminiscent of the Super Saiyan glow, and even the characters themselves look like Saiyans.

10 Best Non-Canon Dragon Ball Battles, Ranked

Many of Dragon Ball's most epic battles, attacks, and forms happen outside of canon, and they may never be integrated into the official story.

Green Lantern looks a little like Gohan in this crossover, and The Flash's trademark smirk feels a lot like Vegeta. It's a great design that shows that while American comics and Japanese manga are inherently their own, they share more than they differ.

Could We See More Crossovers in the Future?

It would be a win for everyone to see more crossovers between DC and Dragon Ball in the future, or even between any major American comic brand and a huge shōnen series. Superman and Goku have always been compared to one another, and watching them actually come together would be great.

Isekai Quartet has been a revelation in anime crossovers, showcasing some of the biggest names in isekai together for the first time. It combines several amazing series, like Overlord, Re:Zero, The Saga of Tanya the Evil, and more, showing that collaborations aren't just possible: they're already here.

Adding a major American comic franchise into the mix would be amazing. Dragon Ball and DC are leading the way, and it's about time that a few other big hits follow.

From the creative mind of Akira Toriyama, Dragon Ball is a mega multimedia franchise that spans back to the 1980s. Dragon Ball expanded quickly, starting as a serialized manga for Weekly Shonen Jump in Japan. It made its way overseas via manga and an anime adaptation that is enjoyed worldwide. Dragon Ball was the initial starting animated series that followed the adventures of the young Son Goku as he sought after the Dragon Balls. These mystical orbs would grant the wish of any who gathered them together. Then, the series would branch off into the immensely popular Dragon Ball Z, which followed Goku as an adult and featured high-intensity battles and Goku's never-ending search to be the strongest. The series has also enjoyed several popular video game adaptations and continues to release several new animated series and theatrical films up to the recent popular Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.

The DC Universe is one of the biggest comic book franchises and often competes with Marvel. DC Comics started as National Allied Publications, founded by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson in 1935. Since then, the franchise has exploded with thousands of comic books, movies, TV shows, and video games. 2013 marked the beginning of the most recent iteration of the superheroes, with Zack Snyder introducing Henry Cavill as Superman. After several movies with mixed reviews, DC underwent a soft reboot under the helm of James Gunn and Peter Safran.
