In an unexpected turn of events, fans have received news about the potential God of War 6 installment thanks to none other than Kratos himself. Although the next entry in the God of War franchise has not been officially confirmed by Santa Monica Studio just yet, rumours have suggested that it is indeed in development, and for once, it seems as though those leaks may have been correct.

God Of War 6 Details May Have Just Been Confirmed

In a recent meet and greet event, Kratos star Christopher Judge spilled the beans on plans for the next God of War installment. For some context, the God of War franchise kicked off way back in 2005, with two more installments following soon thereafter. After a long hiatus, the franchise received a reboot and 2018's God of War was released, followed by God of War Ragnarök in 2022.

On top of the recent news that the original God of War trilogy would be receiving a remaster, it seems as though Santa Monica Studio has also turned its attention to God of War 6, if Judge's recent comments are to be believed.

According to the Kratos actor, fans will “hear about what we’re doing, probably late summer” in a video originally shared by Twitch streamer fuzhpuzy, and since reposted on social media. Considering that rumours suggest that Santa Monica Studio's next major release will be in 2027, it makes sense that any potential news will be shared later this year. Could God of War 6 be the big announcement?

It remains to be seen if Judge will be reprising his role as Kratos in this potential God of War 6, but we do know that he will not be involved in the upcoming God of War Trilogy Remaster, instead the original Kratos, TC Carson, will be returning. On top of this, Judge also revealed that the highly anticipated remake will feature new technology, an improved fighting system, and additional content.

If the 2027 deadline is to be believed, we do not have long left to dive into the next installment of God of War and with the reboot already being a success, let us hope that God of War 6 will follow suit. Well, according to Judge, it will "feel like" a whole new IP. Does this mean that Kratos and Atreus will finally be leaving behind ancient Scandinavia in favor of a new location? Ancient Egypt, perhaps?
