Peacock is developing a scripted true crime series based on the Gilgo Beach murders, Variety has learned exclusively.
Jordan Hawley is set to write and executive produce the project, with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson executive producing under his G-Unit Films and Television banner. UCP will produce. The series is inspired by the Peacock docuseries “The Gilgo Beach Killer: House of Secrets,” which Jackson also executive produced.
The official logline for the show states:
“For 30 years, the Long Island serial killer hunted in the shadows of suburbia — evading law enforcement by living an unremarkable double life. When detectives finally crack the case, his devoted wife and children are forced to confront the man they thought they knew, now revealed as a sadistic killer.”
Police discovered 10 sets of human remains near Gilgo Beach in Long Island, NY, between 2010 and 2011. Rex Heuermann was arrested in connection with seven of the 10 murders and admitted to an eighth after his arrest. He recently pled guilty and is set to be sentenced in June 2026.
Hawley was most recently an executive producer on the Netflix series “Sex/Life” during the show’s first season. He was also an executive producer on the popular Lifetime series “UnReal” and a co-executive producer on ABC’s “A Million Little Things.” His other credits include “Smallville,” the “Taken” TV series, and “Deception.”
In addition to his work with Peacock on “The Gilgo Beach Killer” docuseries, Jackson also executive produced the documentary “TikTok Star Murders” at the streamer. He is currently developing a series take on his novel “The Accomplice” at Peacock with Taraji P. Henson attached to star.
Jackson is an executive producer on Starz’s incredibly popular “Power” franchise. On that front, “Power Book III: Raising Kanan” is currently prepping its fifth and final season, while the third and final season of “Power Book IV: Force” wrapped up in January 2026. Starz is currently at work on the prequel “Power: Origins.” Jackson is also executive producing the upcoming Starz boxing drama “Fightland.” As an actor, Jackson will also appear in the upcoming “Street Fighter” movie as Balrog.
Hawley is repped by Rain and Jackoway Austen Tyerman. Jackson is repped by IAG, AKR Public Relations, and attorney Stephen J. Savva.
