Gigi Hadid Reveals She Plays Security as Daughter Khai Practices Runway Walk
When Tommy Hilfiger calls, Gigi Hadid comes strutting. But first she had an even more important walk to make.
The supermodel—mom to 5-year-old daughter Khai—shared insight into her decades-long working relationship with the renowned designer at his New York Fashion Week runway show Sept. 10, detailing the secret behind their most beloved collaborations.
"I dropped my daughter off at her second day of school this morning and came straight here," Hadid exclusively shared on Live From E! Stream: Tommy Hilfiger Spring 2027 Runway Show. "So it's definitely a new version of Fashion Week for me."
"But to come back to do the Tommy show," she added, "is so nostalgic and means a lot."
As she noted, they've formed a bond over the years. "Starting the kindness from the top trickles down," Hadid said of Hilfiger. "I think that people can feel that from the world that he's created, and I am really lucky and proud that I've gotten to be part of that."
As for whether Khai knows where mom goes after her school run? "She definitely understands the job now," Hadid noted. "She loves a Tommy show, something that's uplifting and fun, and she's very creative. So anything with not just fashion, but drawing, color, fabric, and performance, she loves that."
Plus, she’s quite literally following in Mom’s footsteps. "She gets into her own little catwalks," Hadid revealed. "But then she'll be like, 'Mom, you be security.' So then sometimes I pretend to be the security at the top of the runway."
As a mainstay on Hilfiger’s runway, Hadid knows when the fashion designer has struck gold with new talent. That’s why she was first in line to congratulate her BFF Taylor Swift’s husband Travis Kelce when he was named Tommy Hilfiger's new global brand ambassador.

As Hadid commented under the fashion label’s announcement on Instagram March 30, "Yess boys !!!!!"
The brand replied, "@gigihadid look at them go.”
Hadid, 30, previously revealed what makes working with the label—as well as its founder—so special.
“For over four decades, Tommy has been an iconic force, shaping the essence of classic American cool,” she told WWD in December 2025. “His visionary approach has pushed the boundaries of the fashion industry, transforming his namesake label into a global cultural touchstone.”
“But Tommy’s impact reaches far beyond design,” she added. “A fun, generous and genuinely kind collaborator, he leads with both creativity and conviction. He brings the energy and dedication needed to drive meaningful work, and he’s made a difference in the lives of many, including my own, always leading with purpose and heart.”
And it’s safe to say that Hilfiger and his muse go way back, with him and Hadid dropping their Tommy x Gigi clothing line back in 2016.
"She has an amazing sense of style," Hilfiger said on Good Morning America at the time. "But at the same time as being a supermodel, she’s probably the most important social media star in the world. She has more followers and more fans across the globe than anyone else.”
“She also has her feet on the ground,” he added. “They say a lot of models are this and that. This girl has a brain. She’s polite, she’s respectful."
And the feeling is mutual for Hadid, who emphasized how her California cool style melds perfectly with Hilfiger’s iconic designs.
"They’re all very much my style, and lot of it was obviously looking at vintage Tommy pieces that we love and bringing back certain things," Hadid added. "It’s a really great mix of the classic East Coast style of Tommy Hilfiger and my West Coast style. But all of them are really me."
