Gemma Arterton's actress sister Hannah gives birth to a baby boy with her husband Chris Hyson as the couple reveal their son's sweet name

She has starred in hit Netflix thrillers and followed her older sister Gemma into the acting world. 

But Hannah Arterton is celebrating a rather more personal milestone after welcoming her first child, a baby boy, with her husband Chris Hyson.

Chris revealed on his own Instagram page that they have called their son Jesse Norman Hyson and he was born on October 16.

The British actress, 37, is best known for her roles in Netflix dramas The Five and Safe, both based on novels by best-selling author Harlan Coben.

Hannah captioned the announcement 'a new season' and she received congratulatory messages from singer Leona Lewis and actress Annabel Scholey. 

Hannah is the younger sister of fellow actress Gemma Arterton, 40, who has two children with her husband, Irish actor Rory Keenan.

The actress announced that she was expecting her first baby in August, sharing a series of holiday photographs on social media.

In one image, she wore a red dress that showed off her growing baby bump, accompanying the pictures with the caption: 'Summer 26 so far.'

Her pregnancy announcement prompted an outpouring of congratulations from friends and fans, including her former The Five co-star Tom Cullen, who commented: 'Magic.'

Hannah married musician and composer Chris in September 2022.

The actress has carved out a successful career on screen since graduating from the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 2011.

She made her television breakthrough playing Korinna in the BBC fantasy series Atlantis in 2013, before appearing in the romantic musical film Walking on Sunshine the following year.

In 2016, she took on the role of detective Ally Caine in The Five, a mystery thriller centred on the disappearance of a young boy.

She subsequently reunited with Coben for Safe, the Netflix drama starring Michael C Hall, in which she played detective Emma Castle.

Her other credits include the science-fiction series The Peripheral, alongside Chloë Grace Moretz, and the films The Convent and Hide and Seek.

Away from acting, Hannah is also an accomplished singer and musician, having developed a passion for music alongside her work on stage and screen.

Her older sister Gemma, meanwhile, has enjoyed a successful career in film, starring in productions including The King's Man, Quantum of Solace and The Disappearance of Alice Creed.

The arrival of Hannah's first child marks an exciting new chapter for the actress and her husband as they embark on parenthood together.
