According to Deadline, Best Medicine will return to Fox for a second season, which will air during the 2026-2027 television season. The network has ordered 12 episodes for the sophomore installment, compared to 13 for its freshman run.
In a statement, Michael Thorn, the president of Fox Television Network, said that Best Medicine has become a "breakout" hit for the network by "blending sharp humor with real heart." He added that showrunner Liz Tuccillo has a "distinctive creative voice," and everyone involved with the production is "excited to build on" the ratings momentum going forward.
Animal Control was recently renewed for season 5, with Memory of a Killer likely returning for the 2026-2027 season as well.
When Best Medicine debuted in early January, the series had been given a boost by airing right after an NFL doubleheader and drawing in 3.69 million viewers, which rose to 12.6 million once all viewing platforms were factored in. Best Medicine also had one of the highest-viewed broadcast premieres in the all-important 18-49 demographic. In the weeks since then, the show has been a consistently solid performer for the network.
