Angelina Jolie has spent a majority of her life in Los Angeles, but the Oscar-winner now seems to be turning her back on Tinseltown.
The superstar, who was born in Hollywood, educated at Beverly Hills High and spent years living in the LA neighborhood of Los Feliz, has been spending more time in New York City now that her six children are all adults.
And, it seems, the 51-year-old is fully embracing a new, bohemian existence in the Big Apple, looking happier than ever.
'In her heart, Angelina is more a New Yorker than a Los Angeles person,' a source told the Daily Mail this week. 'She feels more like herself in New York City where she is not really recognized as much.'
The Daily Mail has obtained new photos of Jolie posing on the windowsill of a grungy Manhattan art studio once owned by legendary New York City painter Jean-Michel Basquiat.
The residence now serves as the headquarters of the star's fashion brand, Atelier Jolie.

The snaps show that Jolie appears to be enjoying her new surrounds, flashing a massive smile and seeming more at ease than she usually does when pictured out and about in Los Angeles.
The insider explained: 'New York City will now be a base for her, she has a place there and a lot of friends like her ex-husband Jonny Lee Miller, 53, so she feels at home there, plus her kids like New York City.
'She loves spending time at Atelier Jolie because she feels a sense of community there, there are big dinner parties, and she likes to learn about textiles and embroidery and felting, she takes classes there, and she is close to the staff.'
Jolie married her Hackers co-star Miller in 1996 before splitting amicably in 1999. They have remained lifelong friends.
The move will benefit several of her children as they will also be able to focus on their individual projects.
Jolie and her second ex-husband Brad Pitt are parents to Maddox, 25, Pax, 22, Zahara, 21, Shiloh, 20, and twins Knox and Vivienne, who recently turned 18.
A source close to Jolie told the Daily Mail: 'New York has a lot to offer her children as Shiloh is into dance, Vivienne is into theatre, Pax into photography and Maddox into directing.

However, Jolie appears eager to travel more now that she's not tied down by her kids' school schedules.
The Big Apple will serve as a base as she explores more of what the world has to offer, and, according to the source, 'all of her kids will more or less be with her as they figure out their next steps in life.'
The star is additionally eyeing international movie shoots, plans to spend ample time in Cambodia, and may expand Atelier Jolie beyond the Big Apple.
The source said: 'She will be traveling a lot, though, she is probably opening more Atelier Jolie workshop stores, one may be in Brazil, and another might be in Europe - she has dropped hints recently about expansion.
'She will spend a lot of time in Cambodia to work on the Maddox Foundation, and she may write a book about her travels. She is very interested in being a "nomad," as she says, because she has been there for her kids so much and now she wants to explore. Her heart is in traveling and meeting people and learning.'
Jolie split from Pitt in September 2016 after a dozen years together. Their divorce was finalized in December 2024.

Five of their children are in the process of dropping their famous father's surname. Pax is the only one who has not legally filed or publicly changed his name.
She has not had a public relationship since a rumored fling with singer The Weeknd in 2021, however, the A-lister may be ready to date again.
The insider told the Daily Mail: 'Angelina says she doesn't date but she certainly does flirt. She can be very flirty and cute, I have seen her in action, so I definitely see her dating soon. This is a new life for her, she is ready to fly free.
'It's been 10 years since she filed for divorce from Brad Pitt and she feels it's time to spread her wings again. Whomever she dates, he will have to be interested in traveling. And he won't be anything like Brad Pitt. He won't be a movie star.'
This is not Jolie's first move to New York City as she purchased property there in 1998.
However, it was the men in her life who kept her growing her roots on the West Coast.
'She grew up in Beverly Hills in a small apartment and everyone worshipping her dad Jon Voight who was not around that much, and so that whole weird movie star thing was distasteful for her.
'Two of her husbands wanted to live in LA – first Billy Bob Thornton, then Brad Pitt, so she had to live there, but she never really wanted to,' the source told the Daily Mail.
Jolie began her exodus from LA back in early May when she listed her mansion in Los Feliz.
The Eternals star is still struggling to sell the property after first listing it for close to $30 million over four months ago. According to property listings, the large compound is still 'for sale.'

Jolie began her exodus from LA back in early May when she listed her mansion in Los Feliz (pictured) for $30 million as it still has yet to be sold
At the time, Jolie listed the 11,000sq ft estate for $29.85 million through Ernie Carswell and his associates at Sotheby's International Realty.
Built in 1913 and designed in a Beaux-Arts-style, the six bedroom, 10 bathroom house was once the residence of famed director Cecil B DeMille who lived there until his death in 1959. The two acre lot boasts a swimming pool, pool house, guest house, tea house and arched fountains.
As well as an array of multi-aspect living rooms, there is also a stunning library room, a grand wood-paneled dining room, an old farmhouse style kitchen and multiple living spaces.
Jolie snapped up the property for $25 million in 2017 after leaving Pitt who had a home nearby.
